Yeah the seismic signature of a nuclear bomb is very different to that caused by plate tectonics and magma movement and very difficult to fake with conventional explosives.

Enthusiasts all over the world run their own geophones, etc. so its not something you can really fake.

NK has a fair bit of supplies stored away that would be opened up in event of war - more than is often banded around - although as before I wouldn't want to hazard a guess as to the state of some of it.

They've also ordered their armed forces (tasking individuals) to requisition food by any means necessary so as to be in a fighting fit condition with an example made of anyone that isn't but being NK they've also put out an order that any soldier caught stealing food would also be made an example of heh.

The problem for the US is collateral damage and something people often overlook when talking about US versus NK in military terms - sure the US could wipe them off the face of the earth in 24 hours but the civilian casualties and other fallout (not necessarily nuclear) would be incredible - which means that unless the US was literally staring down the barrel of a threat to their existence it wouldn't happen that way.

Last report I saw stated that NK has at most three weeks of supplies set aside. This is the main reasoning behind their military doctrine of using overwhelming numbers in an attempt to get the job done before supplies start to run out.

They have around 3-4 weeks of supplies to sustain an offensive but in a defensive war supply wise they could hold out much longer - ignoring interdiction and destruction of supplies which obviously would happen to an extent in a real shooting war.
 
I'm sure most people of planet earth would be giggling at Trump and Kim if it wasn't so shocking and serious that they had managed to become heads of state.

What will humans think of next?
 
war in this era will be broadcasted in HD along with social media uploads so it will be an interesting perspective we get to see. popcorn at the ready!
