it is very a good point sah', but it does happily prove that more for your money is AMD, but if you want all out P4 currently see's the top score. SO you have more for youe money, or lots of money and most powerful. But no need to get touchy

Hehe I'm not being touchy I think its great that someone can crack 2 minutes on whatever it is. I still believe however that a Prometia or Vapochilled AMD pushed to 2.7Ghz or so would whup it :D Especially considering how close the air cooled AMD's are to the top spot.

Don't get me wrong I don't want to start a MCIBTYC flame war, and I'm not one to talk anyway, out of the dozens of PC's I have running only 4 of them are AMD's!

:p:D

Sowwy.. didn't look that far down, but now you mention it I do remember you saying something about it in another thread. But what about the rig in your sig? I just thought your pimping the benchmark well enough, be interesting to see someone who has so much enthusiasm for it running it :D

what the heck the 2800 and 3000 will do, well it'll be some more whoopass!!!

wondered how long it'd be till someone noticed!

currently i've run it about 5 times on each comp, i'm play with the setting just to shave the extra few mintues off the time.

when the pifast tables where working i had the fastest aircooled p4 1600, but for seti i need to clock it down a bit for stabilty issues. But i got the 2.26 to play with as well. But i going for the honours of air cooled best xxxmhz p4's

see how much i can really get them, more tweaking not outright powah.

so watch this space :D:D

Woot.. score is up.. thanks Orifice!! *mwah* :p Not sure if it was worth trashing my XP for heheh but hey.. not far from 2:00 or under now!

I feel much more like a proper overclocker when I stay with Air cooling.. bit like how I prefer Touring Car racing to F1 I think, its closer to the bone :D

Just overtook ya again biffa - result sent in, awaits posting - 2.016 (2hrs 57s) - 217Mhz x 11.5 = 2497MHz @ CL2-2-2-5

2497mhz.jpg

Getting closer to the 2hrs - only 58s away - and still on (cold) air!

Windows wide open - usually slightly open, wanted to make sure :D :D :D

the brass monkeys on the window ledge are staying outside as its too cold in here for them (and the nipple clamps from the car batteries won't stretch this far).

Hmm.. nice one m8!

Sounds like 11.5x220 might be the magic sub 2hr number eh? :D

OK, this system has not been running SETI for various reasons for a few days, but I did get a benchmark out of it...

Xeon Prestonia, 2800@2800 (21 x 133), PC2100@133, CAS2 (I think), 512MB, HT+affinity
2.7788 hours (2:46:43.7)

I did get 2.7553 hours (2:45:19.3) with affinity disabled, but I'm not sure if that's repeatable (will re-run to check).

I don't think it can do any better (unless someone can come up with some ideas).:(

Is there any way I can get my RAM timings (they are not in the BIOS)?

AFAIK there aint nuffink you can do with a Smell(y) computer like yours. I have about 50 of the things and they are locked down like a very locked down thing and impossible to push.

Heck they even underclock most of their kit.

Well, I'm not desperate for extra performance, and I wouldn't overclock it even if I could. TBH, I'm happy with my WU/day count now (of course, if someone offers me some more, I'll take it).

Will re-run a few more tests over the next 24 hours and submit the best result (some idle time can't be helped as I can't stand over the PC waiting for it to finish).

Were those timings in Windows or Linux/Wine? you said you were going to try both - though personally I don't feel theres any real difference unless you're running old brain dead versions of either - which I know you're not.

Sadly the results are a little off - you need another 1000Mhz or so to compete - but the /day results are still nice :D

The sandra utilities can *sometimes* show RAM timings - depends on the bios/chipset though - and as I have Nforce2 which is too new then its presently a *not* - I suspect the GB chipset is going to be the same. BIOS is likely only answer - though of course you could WPCREDIT them and set them to what you want - I seem to remember something somewhere (probably even on these fine forums - Psilonaught even maybe) someone saying something about CL3 at higher speeds until they tweaked things - if not here, then probably extremesystems or oc.com as my other haunts. SoftFSB or similar may be able to do things to the mobos as well - though not on the RAM front I suspect.

Just noticed that latest 2003 version supports "Intel 720X, 750X" chipsets - so you *may* be in luck. NF2 still not mentioned.

sandra is here:- http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/ in case your one of the 2-3 who don't have it.

wpcredit (discretion/care advised) is here :- http://www.h-oda.com/ - never tried it myself as I stick to the o/c mobos like Abit :D
