Npower rant

Ok having this whole issue finally resolved a few weeks ago I was told I would get a cheque for the over payments on my debt £545 in total but the cheque would be £470ish due to the rest being on the current billing period but I will get that back next billing cycle.

10 days they said. 10 days. It's been two weeks and no cheque yet. Just called them and I was told the cheque was issued on 18th Jan but as with all things like this it has to go through Compliance and they deemed it not genuine. As in "you're on prepayment and prepayment sometimes are wrong so we stopped the cheque". Bloke I spoke to just said its been re-issued and Compliance now know it's genuine and it will be sent out and I WILL DEFFO get it in 10 days.

******* numptys. the lot of them. Once I get this cheque I will complain again and ask for compo as I think we (wife and myself) deserve it as they have ****ed up on more occasions than I can dare to count.

Jesus i know it doesnt effect me but this winds me up as I work for 1 of the big 6. There is no wonder regardless of how much work we all get tarred with the same brush when **** like this goes on.

Get switched asap then get the complaint sent to the ombudsman

Out of interest, are you getting many shifty stories about Economy Energy also?

I know I've posted a few times about them in this thread but I simply cannot believe what they're doing to con people. They're utterly despicable.

Aaaaannnd again the cheque is returned as its not been validated. Called just now and the previous two call advisors I have spoke to didnt do the procedure correctly so thats why its not been posted. This advisor told he will 100% get it validated today and sent out. Absolute joke.

On a plus side. Npower are changing my meter from Prepay to credit end of month. Once thats done Im switching to someone else. Probably OvO like I have with my electric.

I don't understand how NPower are still in business, when I first moved to the UK in 2002, everyone complained about how crap they are, I swear no energy company got more villified by people I met, yet still people choose them as a supplier.

Boggles the mind.

No cheque again. Called them up. Lady said the cheque was returned again due the compliance team not saying its genuine as I CANT ACCUMULATE THAT AMOUNT OF CREDIT ON PREPAYMENT. She says she can see why as I still owe £900. I cried a little inside. Totally fed up now. Absolute joke. Back under investigation. I posted on Npowers FB page again. Big rant this time.

No idea if you can see this but here is my fb post https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...tif_t=photo_comment&notif_id=1488034881397608

A) it's Maths :p
B) time to start small claims proceedings for the £540

They are an absolute joke of a company. I've started getting "you owe us £xxx" final demand letters despite having not been a customer for 3 years and paying off what i owe them on the 1st of every month as agreed. Phoned and told them in no uncertain terms to do one and that if i receive any more I'll be charging for my time they're wasting

Right-o chaps. Looks like good news. After my calls over week end and my rant on FB, the lady I spoke who told me I still had debt etc etc yawn yawn. Called me juts now asking for my meter reading, and credit on the meter. She took them down and said Ill call you in a bit. She called back and told me once my credit was deducted from this balance I have a credit of £475. (this is minus the credit on meter) and she has actually posted the cheque herself as it was below the £500 limit for higher up customer services persons. She said I WILL get it within 5-10 working days. I asked about the rest as these letters stated I was in credit of £550ish she juts told me the figure I was given by here is an updated balance. Previously I was told some of that balance was from this billing period so I should get it once the next statement is out in a few months. This I will check up on once I have this cash in my bank. I have still got appointment for my meter to be changed to a credit on beginning of mArch so once that is changed I will be going elsewhere.

Only once this money is in my account can I breath and feel relaxed. It's been hell for two years pretty much. Finally it could be all over.

Got the cheque. Going take it to my bank during the week. Pre pay meter swapped for credit meter. No more going to the shop to top up. They still owe me the rest which should be £80ish according to the latest letter I was sent, also the meter swap was cancelled and due to their customer service promise I was credited with £30, not seen it yet either on my pre pay meter during the last top ups so I would assume it would be credited to my credit account now. This I will chase up along with the remaining debt over payment they owe me. Once the cheque is cashed I will be resuming talks with them.

Unfortunately Npower has the cheapest tariff for me. I use between 14k15k kwh per year, (old 3 bed detached with solid walls so crap at keeping heat in) so once the swap is sorted over the nest few weeks account wise I will talk to them about tariffs, I worked out it would cost me £50-£60 per month for my gas which totals the amount I was spending on gas over the last 3 years. With that in mind I will demand the direct debit will be that amount. Fingers crossed it works out ok. In the meantime I will be looking around at other suppliers but like I said Npower has the best offer for me :(

What a crap piece of irony. Glad the cheque has arrived. Hopefully it's the end of this whole saga and a boat load of stress gone from your life!

Sadly it's all too common practice these days. They string you along as long as possible in hopes of you giving up and most people do which is the sad part.

Certainly no stress now. Lets see what they instore for me if I stay with them, only due to cheaper tariff though. I could just leave and go elsewhere and sort out money after but knowing them as I would not be with them anymore that might take a while.

I was not going to giving up as that money has paid for my 4 days in Ibiza. :) Glad it's nearly all sorted mow.

Now you are sorted sign up to Npower web site and put meter readings in every week (I do it Monday morning ) I have a complete record and you must back them up each month as they lost them on server upgrade once. last mondays reading was followed by a notice saying "Paying to much" with the option of reducing DD but kept it at £45 a month which will cover pressure washing slabs and extra use of tumble dryer etc.

Npower seem universally awful.

Was being billed a year after termination. Took more months to get a refund applied. Apparently they had closed the electric, but not the gas! Idiots. Never again. It's about one company I never hear good things from

I have just been surprised by NPower - I had upped my DD to £45 a month and I put in a meter reading every Monday - Lately it's been telling me I am paying too much and my latest bill showed £29 in credit - Just checked my bank account and they have refunded the £29 and reduced DD to £40 - What more could you ask for.:):)

You lot seem to be under the impression any of the big energy company's are going to be better.
When they are double dipping (google it) the entire country for profit what do you expect from them? they just want your money.

OVO.

Problem solved. Best move I ever made, half the price too.
I had one of the worst customer experiences ever with OVO.

I work for SSE, the billing system we use is sheer modern perfection. I simply do not understand how Npower does this! I say give SSE a go.

I lasted with SSE for less than a month because of there terrible service both customer and their website in fact I got compensated for all the bother I went through.

Utility companies do not give a dam about their customer, why should they we all need power so if people keep changing figures for each company probably even themselves out. Even the smaller suppliers have jumped on the provide a rubbish customer service.

I was with Daligas who after a year stopped my direct debit but continued to supply gas and electricity for a further 6 months before hitting me with a hefty arrears bill and to this day even though the case went to the ombudsman I still do not know why.

I'd advise checking, then double checking, then checking again that their figures are all correct.

Then do the calculations yourself and make sure it adds up.

Then check again for piece of mind.

They did similar to me, before hitting me with a £1500 bill 18 months later
