NR200 Owner's Thread

U9S used in the past builds, so compact small tower & can rotate it to have the fans facing up even :)

the new U9S Chromax is one of the towers to go for if your not doing Vertical GPU

I find the same, top-down coolers just tend to look better! That's my ongoing conundrum, performance vs aesthetics! I really like the look of the stock AMD Wraith Spire RGB but the cooling is no doubt miles off of a decent aftermarket solution.

Wraith Prism is really good cools well and even my wife commented on how "pretty" it looks which was odd she never comments on computer stuff. But, it's loud, far too loud.

I know it's not a top down cooler but if you fancy risking the scythe mugen black RGB edition and let me know if it fits pls :D

Wraith Prism is the best cooling & sexiest "stock" cooler out far as I know :)
Why I still use them & for easy mounting for certain builds.

Wraith Prism doesn't do it for me, it's the square outer shape that puts me off. The Spire looks great with the RGB ring and nothing beyond it with the fan outer shroud being circular. I guess I could buy a chunkier top-down cooler and mod whatever fan I put on top by just cutting the corners off the top side! :D

I've got a Noctua NH-L12 on my server, might borrow it to see how it looks before committing to anything. I'm worried that with the high socket mount on my Gigabyte X570 board a top-down 120mm cooler would just clash with the top fans...

The 92mm probably won't do much; I wedged a 120mm in there and it barely moved the needle. The rear panel is quite blocked with that vertical GPU mount. Wil be interesting to see if your experience is the same.

Tried mounting a 120mm to the rear, but it doesn't do much
hi, i saw your posts regarding mounting a 120mm at the rear using cable ties, hoping to ask you some questions

  1. can you send a picture of what it looks like from the back of the case ? which holes did you put the cable ties through ?
  2. is there any chance a 140 mm fan can fit in there ? or only enough space for 120 mm?
thanks,

I removed the fan, so can't photograph it now. Most of the face of the fan was obscured though. On the 140mm front, I'm fairly certain the answer is no. There simply isn't room. And I don't think it would offer any advantages anyway, given how little ventilation there is on the back panel with the NR200P. The top panel is the main, and most effective, exhaust.

I understand the need for the legs, but personally don't like them. Detracts from the compact nature of the case. I think a folded and painted metal bracket / stand would look a lot better.

ok thanks. hmm, i wonder if the blockage could be lessened by removing those PCIE covers that are meant for the vertically mounted GPUs.

Still the same compact case with more table space now & easy to clean/dust floor & also easy to reach the front I/0 Panel
Make a nice hand heater for the winter :)

folded white metal brackets for feet I have looked for no luck
to paint your own brackets also a waste of money
Tried white rubber dip & other white paints on other projects, not as good as the real factory painted white.

Yeh I think those legs are a little too tall now, like Toothy I get the need for bigger than stock legs but that almost looks precarious now! But if you are happy with it, that's what matters :)

Would love to see a circular "PinkFloyd" Cable style tidy :D
What with the black cables and black case you can't really clearly see the cable management that much! I've done a decent job of wedging them away so they're barely on show! I need to tidy the cabling for the fans at the top a little as it's just wedged right now, plus I think I'll run the sata cable to the SSD behind the powersupply next time I dismantle things so you don't see it looping away from the motherboard connector. Not sure what more I can really do though!
