You are right but there is more stupid kids with electric bikes (scooters) capable of breaking speed limits?
Very good point m8 I do lot's of driving delivering goods for my clients and police? What police!!!If an electric bike is exceed the speed limit its an illegal one, escooters are illegal anyway, and if they are exceeding 15.5mph even more so. As has been said though the police are doing nothing about them, I see them everyday on my commutes no one seems to care.
Even when you get gangs of kids in hoodies barrelling through town stealing phones/handbags etc the police do nothing. Unless of course someone intervenes and knocks them off the scooter or restrains them, then that person is arrested, while the kid walks scott free.
Maybe it's more about money, if you had a number plate I'm sure it would have to be registered for a fee, not to mention if they went down the insurance / tax route...
Cyclists I think are the one group of road users that's (directly) not been fleeced yet...
Nope, my old clunker is several decades old.Have you see the price of bikes lately
Have you see the price of bikes lately
100% agree. The police have been a joke for a while now, get robbed or burgled they do nothing, post a meme on twitter that causes anxiety to someone, you'll have the riot police knocking on your door.
Maybe that's is why number plate (they are thinking) if people baying bike's for this sort of money they can afford insurance and road tax.Exactly - prices have massively jumped in the last 10 years. A basic carbon road/MTB bike is now £3-4k. Top end off the shelf bikes are £10k-£12k !!
Ah, so if they can afford that they can afford the number plate / rfl / insurance then. Signed, G. Shapps esq.Exactly - prices have massively jumped in the last 10 years. A basic carbon road/MTB bike is now £3-4k. Top end off the shelf bikes are £10k-£12k !! [Top end used to be about £4k in 2008]
'Road Tax' is called Vehicle Excise Duty, and pricing is based on CO2 output.road tax.
If government will need money they can call it different way you are road user after all.'Road Tax' is called Vehicle Excise Duty, and pricing is based on CO2 output.
Granted I'm a bit of a porker, but on a road bike, I would only be getting near 20MPH going absolutely hell for leather with a a tailwind. I'm not sure it's as easy as some make out.
