The nurse is obviously a nutter, I have as much or more loathing for the hospital's hierarchy that chose to put the reputation of the trust, such as its lamentable state was, above the proper investigation of what was obviously a nurse that may well have gone rogue and the suspicious deaths of many babies over a long time frame.
If there''s to be any extra judicial punishments dished out I would like to think the actioners might look beyond Letby and somewhat further afield. God knows history says without such actions those responsible for allowing many concerns from on site professionals to be quashed will just walk into another cushy number, or take early retirement with intact mega pensions. Their intransigence will go without any punishment at all. Of course, valuable lessons will be learned, and heartfelt condolences muttered.
There's currently a case where a council / social services had prior knowledge of probable child abuse, but appear to have turned a blind eye, (for whatever reason, I am not going there), and now a ten year old girl is dead, and the probable perpetrators are gone to a country with no formal extradition treaty.
Before any charges have even been brought the authorities are babbling the time honoured "lessons will be learned".
