Nurse arrested for murdering babies

As others have said, you can already see it. Those senior members that have some difficult questions to answer will find a way to wriggle out of it, and something something about lessons being learned.

A utterly tragic case for those involved :(.

Is the 65k a year figure really that accurate?

Surely doesn't cost that much?

The United Kingdom spent approximately 6.09 billion British pounds on its prison system in 2022/23.

In 2021/22, the average cost of a prison place in England and Wales was 46,696 British pounds a year.

And at least in the US, I think death row inmates could end up costing more because it can take decades for them to be executed.

If we hadn't fallen out with some more "robust" regimes I am sure they could advise on how to cut costs very substantially :)

If they put them to work it wouldn't be an issue. I am sure there is plenty they could do to subsidize the tax payer.

If they don't want to work then give them a beating. Then they will soon comply. They are in prison after all.

So you'd have been ok with the state beating up that innocent man for 17 years?

Mistakes happen but I am sure he has got his compensation and is sorted for life.
Yet the rules until this particular guys miscarriage of justice involved people given compensation for wrongful jail terms actually being charged board and rent for the amount of time they spent incarcerated. What a truly bizarre world we live in.

No amount of money can give 17 years back.

I 100% agree but you cannot focus on an extreme minority so the 99% of other true criminals get an easy life.

I have also just watched the panorama episode and all those responsible for the management of this lady should be doing time just as much. They get those wages for the accountability and responsibility of their actions and now they need to eat their cake.
