I wish they'd concentrate on releasing some cards us mere mortal could afford before releasing ever more expensive and ridiculously powerful halo models

The 2021/2022 games that should be out by now are either heavily delayed or, will arrive in H2 2023. Nvidia probably had a solid plan of GPU releases based on developer schedules and are sticking to it, even without the games appearing.
The other thing, is, semi-conductors will be in an industry bust cycle by the end of this year, therefore there is an element of 'final days of rome' coming into play into the GPU market, if you have a product, might as well bring it out and try and sell it.
why, margin its all about, why release lower margin cards, when they can butt **** those that have the cashI wish they'd concentrate on releasing some cards us mere mortal could afford before releasing ever more expensive and ridiculously powerful halo models
Micron is the canary in the coalmine, operating income down -107% (that's not a typo). Pretty much everyone else will be effected, there is nowhere to hide.INdustry bust period? Hmmm, not heard about this. Thought after covid etc they were still catching up. I'll have a google for some news around that.

Is it just me or is everyone-else also just getting bored of increasingly silly GPU's?

GPUs, no. The cost and the electricity bill, yes.

I guess.Yeah mid range GPUs are already plenty powerful, feels like they're just pushing GPUs further than need be for the hell of it, we're in supercar territory and every new announcement is slightly faster than the last but consumes more fuel
If you can afford a $500 GPU you can afford the necessary power consumption - If you can't afford the power consumption, you probably shouldn't be buying any GPU at all.If you can afford $3000 on a GPU you can afford 600 watts power consumption.
But i'm stating to find the concept boring, if not tedious.
Yup.Is it just me or is everyone-else also just getting bored of increasingly silly GPU's?
Yup.
I more bored with the fact there has been little or no real progression and even regression in performance per £/$ in anything but the halo cards.
I have no interest in paying more and more come each upgrade time.
If what I spent last upgrade doesn't offer me any more performance come the next upgrade (give or take 5-10% £/$) then I lose interest. It just pushes me further and further away from the hobby.
This
I'm not just a PC gamer i'm nerdy about the technology and its this "make it ever bigger, suck up more power and double the price... job done, easy'! that makes me go "meh....."
Limit the board power to 350 watts, now what? They have nothing, they are out of ideas....
Isn't a lot of that due to the fact its getting harder and harder to shrink things down? There used to be an alleged pcie limit of 350 watts and I remember the 6990 being one of the first cards to meet or exceed that limit with the bios switch "awesome" mode. Now it seems like everything's fair game and power be damned.
So think outside the box. Like good engineers are supposed to do, good engineers aren't resigned to a problem, they solve it.
Easier said than done I'd imagine. Gpu's were stuck on 28nm for 5 years, Intel were stuck on 14nm for around 6 years. Seems right now that throwing power at something is one of the last tricks they have left to bump performance as shrinking things is nearing its limits.
