NVIDIA 4000 Series

It was context to the pricing, a psu is power related like the adapter but is far more complicated to make, yet somehow it can come in cheaper....and while it is a niche product (to a point) it's not that niche from a manufacturing stand point, it's a board, 2 sockets and a shell over the top....
If you think the price is fine then that's on you, but personally I think it's overpriced for what it is... but then I suppose they're just taking a leaf out of nvidia and amd with their pricing at the moment.

It's false equivalency entirely.

You can think that but it really isn't...

I kind of get where you are coming from though, I do catch myself doing things arguably worse than this, like when I got my 4090 and thought I could get a second hand car for less than that. I am not justifying the price, just saying the comparison is a bit of a stretch IMO (noting my double standard as I do the same). I note my hypocrisy but I still stand by it's not a great comparison sir.

Don't get me wrong I think gpu prices are stupid at the minute and you'd arguably get more use out of the car than a gpu but imo the psu analogy it does make sense...

The psu is fundamentally a board with sockets plugged into it within a case, but it also has additional components plugging into the board (yes it's very simplified) and at the end of the day they both have to be able to support power safely. Yeah we have scale of manufacturing etc to lower prices on the psu but an incredibly simple adapter really shouldn't be anywhere near as expensive as cablemod are pricing it at.

Hell I could have compared it with my right angle usb adapters for my motherboard (type e right angle adapter)... 2 sockets, a board to connect them and in my case a plastic case, how much did they cost me direct from china.. £8.14 for 2... I'd expect it to be higher than this due to higher power needs but still.

Those cablemod power adapters (right angle type) are up for pre order. If buying from EU store, only expedited postage available for UK, adds 30 quid to the price (39 quid).

Total price of 70 quid, nope!

Yep and the urine extraction is that they come from the same factories a lot of other cheap crap comes from in China... I wouldn't mind if their quality was otherworldly but it really isn't.

Exactly they cost cents to make, like all other adapters and cables.

I asked on reddit why the costs are so high as quality wise they're nothing special... a CableMod admin NPC gave the usual spiel of "well our quality is high and we double and triple check before they are sent out..." which they really don't, I've had multiple products from them either be faulty or slightly damaged.

Got a email from cablemod today saying the 90 degree adapters is ready for pre order.

Unfortunately you're wrong a tad becasue the biggest fault lies in us the consumers. I never got suckered in to buy Titans back in the day for 1k, 2080ti for 1200, 3090 for 1.5k or even worse 2k for 3090ti. This FOMO stupid trend is stupid on so many levels that it boggles my mind how most of public is so gullible. Anyway, if the recession does come, no one will buy even 300$ 4050's(4060 'cough'). My 2 cents on this matter.
I almost feel sorry for the big corporations. I mean what are they to do? There really needs to be some sort of organisation that keeps consumers in check. I bet they're to blame for petrol and gas prices too. Bloody consumers.

I don't think that makes sense. If FOMO was a thing for most of the public, all gamers would be on the latest and greatest - but remind me, what are the top cards in the Steam Hardware Survey again?

For those interested, these have recently dropped;

So pretty bad - gross margin was down 8 p.points (i.e. 12.3%) over the last fiscal year compared to the year before. But not as bad as investors feared and together with sharebuy backs etc. the shares have risen after market.
