NVIDIA 4000 Series

Desperate as in they can't move the stock they manufactured and will end up collecting dust or end up in landfill so they can sell their 5000 series or they will do what they did with 4000 series and have lots of 3000 stock and sell them at same or higher price and then raise the 5000 series to even more stupid prices.

We will have to see but Nvidia pulling such stunts says a lot. Nvidia does care about moving these stocks as they cost money to store for them and their AIBs. Or they will just make sure 5000 series comes out once stocks of 4000 are low enough so means they will get released later and later but I doubt it they will pull what they did with the 4000 series and keep the 3000 at silly prices instead of cutting the prices of the real stock they have and not the stock that went out of stock but magically was only ones getting price cuts apart from the odd 3090ti that could be found for £1150 that no one wanted with it's 450w power use and the silly power connector then too and even then wasn't many of them left it was the midrange they had lots off and 3080 12GB at one point that magically appeared after all the 3080ti's sold out. Not looking forward to the games they will play if they don't shift this 4000 series stock before 5000 series.

Depends how many they've made. Probably learned their lesson with the first "batch" and are only cocking to have something to sell.

And since when is 4x enough? There are investors that got in late and infinite growth is the only way capitalism works.

I read an article yesterday that there are signs Nvidia's AI boom has peaked which is starting to make investors nervous. Truly hilarious **** in this clown world.

Lol, true enough. I think it will only be difficult for nvidia once custom hardware is out - assuming is good enough.

Infinite growth in a finite market. The investors are expecting that level of growth for the immediate future. Hence,if gaming is not doing so well, then it means it is holding back even more potential revenue.

You can always have more money - even digital! :))

As for gaming, well, if the demand and margins are higher with AI, why earn less by making gaming cards? Prices with these supers are too high to represent a true concern from nvidia. At least that's my 2c.

You're right, they don't want to be half-cocked when it comes to AI. Will we even get a full release of Blackwell? NVIDIA won't unload all of their new tech all at once.

If AMD and Intel make it a three way, it could get messy!

Morning Bid: Nvidia chipped while Fed minutes pass

Nvidia tumbled 4.35%, its biggest percentage fall since October, while the broader Philadelphia semiconductor index (.SOX), opens new tab declined 1.56% as other chip stocks followed. And Nvidia is down another 2% premarket on Wednesday.

Investors seem concerned that Nvidia's results, expected after markets close on Wednesday, can justify its expensive valuation of a forward price-to-earnings ratio just above 32 - although that's not isolated, given the 'Magnificent 7' top caps as a whole are trading close to 35 times.
Nevertheless, it's a tough gallery to 'wow' after a 225% stock price increase over 12 months. Analysts expect earnings of $4.56 a share and revenue to rise to $20.378 billion from $6.05 billion a year earlier, according to LSEG estimates.

And the sudden cloud over the tech sector seems to go beyond Nvidia. Cybersecurity firm Palo Alto Networks (PANW.O)
, opens new tab plunged more than 20% overnight after it forecast third-quarter billings below Wall Street estimates, signalling more cautious spending by businesses in an uncertain economy.

what do you think about Inno3D GeForce® RTX 4090 24GB iCHILL Frostbite Ultra?
I would wait, if spending £1500 plus on a graphics card that many say is already obsolete, debatable, but will definitely be obsolete in the next 8-9 months, so not even a full year of having the "best card".

If its a case of you have to buy a Graphics card, say due to a fault, then consider a lower tier card for the moment, like the 4070 Ti Super or 4080 Super, though depends on prices in Italy, and put what is saved aside and use it for a 5090 when its released.

Yep, this is what I am doing. Because even if you "only" spend £600 now, for example on a 4070 SUPER, and spend £1000 on a 5080, it will still be faster than the 4090, by some margin too...

This is assuming it will be £1000, but I reckon Nvidia learnt their lesson and will price it same as the 4080 SUPER now...

But, I will continue to wait, I refuse to pay over £500 for a 12GB card in 2024, as I am coming from a 1060 6GB and I am on 1440p.

The £250-£350 offerings from Nvidia are an utter joke and they sully their brand name.

That makes a lot of sense, however it can be seen differently.

If 5090 is a major improvement over 4090, say 35-40% or greater, then I think it's going to be sold out and/or scalped for quite a while, simply because you'll be competing with professionals/ai enthusiasts. So it might be several months before you can get one, depending on your region or luck.

If it is 25% or less, then I don't think it's worth waiting for anyway and you can take your time upgrading.

You make a good point but here are Pros and Cons for waiting or not waiting.

Everyone has there own preferences, mine is to wait, as I do not see the RTX 4000 series as the best Value, this generation, and take the chance that the RTX 5000 series has major performance improvements and available at "reasonable" prices, given how close the release date has become.

I think another perspective that is often missed, is the fact that even today, our CPUs are too slow to fully take advantage of a 4090, sometimes still bottlenecked even at 4k...

I game at 1440p, because its 240hz, curved and I love my Samsung G7, never enjoyed a monitor as much, and 1440p is just a great resolution to push high frames while still looking great, besides my eyes are 40+ years old, I don't even need AA let alone 4k...

But what I can feel and see is smoothness and response, so I wanna push high frames, and if I wait for the 5080/5090, by that time we will have much faster gaming CPUs out at the same time too, which will further jusitify the insane speeds these GPUs will offer.

No point spending £1000-1500 on a new GPU without treating youself to the pleasure and enjoyment of opening loads new boxes and doing a fresh new build!

It's probably the only time I ever feel like a kid at Christmas again....

Nvidia is finally replacing the control panel

It's being a long time coming

It's called the "Nvidia App", lame name maybe they'll change it later but it's now in Beta and you can download it here

Some of the control panel's features are missing from the beta app but will be added and also GPU overclocking and driver roll back features will be added

The RTX HDR feature that people have been playing around with is built into the app, one click and you have HDR gaming for al directx games

The old control panel will still be available to use until the beta ends, after that it will be disabled in all new drivers
