NVIDIA 4000 Series

Yes the price of ASUS gear is getting joke {asus tax} my board is

ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero with a ASUS ROG Thor 850 psu

why i wanted a ASUS card in the end but next PC will not have ASUS parts in it lol ...

I have an Asus TUF 3080 and love it, built like a tank and was one of the best 3080s you could buy back in 2020. Reasonably priced too (at least before scalper tax).

They do seem to be taking the mick these days though.

I had one on order with OCUK at launch, at RRP for all of about 3 secs until the website crashed and burned, along with my hopes of getting a 3080 @ RRP. :(

Yup they're getting insane, my Strix Z690-A Gaming WiFi D4 board cost me £230 w/cashback 2.5yrs ago and that was pretty much my limit. Gonna make it last me a fair while yet!!!! (thankfully it took a 13th/14th gen cpu so that will def help over time)

I must admit I got a Asus Strix 4080 for £1187. Even then it left a bitter taste in my mouth. I ended up selling it for £900 and got a 4090FE for £1529. Made the wrong choice to begin with. Each to their own.

So the 5090 and Ti then....

I don't believe the numbers, I doubt this 5 series generation jump is going to be similar as 3090-4090 performance jump. Never know I suppose. prices are becoming ridiculous, I don't doubt the price increase, we should see RRP closing on £2000 if 70% performance jump is true. Prices are already ridiculous tbh.

I hear you, Asus tax is sometimes really really bad.

their 48" oled monitor is £1500 and its price just keeps creeping up, its just a LG C2 panel with fancy legs. You can C2 for £800, they want almost double for fancy legs and little LED.

Their G14 gaming laptops are good, its a hit and miss with them.

Forgive me father for I have sinned

In my defence:

It's RTX: ON then :D

I just realised that I haven't done a Timespy run with the 4090 since purchase, not sure how that happened, so just did one with and without 80% power limit:

Within ear flicking reach of the top Ryzen... :o

Made it to the top 1% of something for once in my life :p

Lol!!!

Not sure that is much of a defence tbh. I would have struggled to justify that price on release. But now? No chance.

Closer to the start rather than end of the 4000 series product cycle and sub £800 would have been nice. But I had a gift card (Christmas bonus) burning a hole in my pocket and nothing else I wanted or needed.
