NVIDIA 4000 Series

That's just the marketing levers. Turing *money* was no faster than Pascal at launch.

The 2080 offered 1080Ti performance for 1080Ti money. We got 60% performance per dollar over *two* gens because Turing gave us nothing.

This, it's also why at the 3000 series launch Jenson called out 1080ti owners specifically saying the 3000 series was finally 'worth' upgrading to.

Getting exciting now! I'll see what £750 can get me I'm hoping the 16gb 4080 which should be a nice bump up from my 3080!

Yep. I would jump on that also. I feel it would be a fair price all things considered. The extra £100 over the 3080 price should roughly cover any changes in currency and costs.

Good insight that. Just out of interest, what kind of professionals are you working for? As in, individuals or/and companies?

Generally anyone I have ever seen post about their workloads have always basically said get the best you can as with more power = faster productivity = more money :D

But that is a very valid point on the size of the 3090.

Everyone from small firms with one to two people all the way to large corps/industry and public bodies and defence. Depending on what they need COTS can work, but a great deal of time you are looking at complete bespoke designs, from the chassis upwards with custom PCB's etc. I've worked with movie studios, game developers, oceanographics, automotive, aerospace and lots more.

Some of these companies work with grants/fixed budgets, and it isn't always for profit, you get universities as an example who will give grants to departments that want a certain spec but have limited funds to do that with, and you also get the start-ups who simply can't afford everything straight away. It's a very diverse market place out there, and most people sadly don't have the first clue just how simple it isn't.

Any who, back on topic. 4xxx, lets see what they are peddling in a couple of hours and how much peoples 3xxx cards are going to fall in value by. :D

What's the betting on Jensen being a cheeky chappie and saying "the more you buy, the more you save", at least once, in his presentation.
