NVIDIA 4000 Series

NVIDIA DLSS 3: AI-Powered Performance Multiplier Boosts Frame Rates By Up To 4X

AmaEEIe.png

Seems they have already got an impressive showing with dlss 3 in 35 games but that is an absolute kick in the teeth for ampere owners unless there is some hardware lacking on ampere? Especially with what AMD have done with FSR 2/2.1
I suggested that - is it a hardware limitation, or a customer milking scheme? Not really a kick in the teeth though, it was always going to be superceded.

I just can't stop laughing at that card, i'm serious.... its ####'ing helarious! is it just me? or does anyone else find the size of it hilariously ridiculous, its like a meme has become reality.
its a fitting card for someone like marquess brownlee, all bling and no substance.. instead of giving away cards to smartphone reviewers why doesnt nvidia give one to real enthusiasts, atleast i will be happy i got one before those youtube reviewers, maybe even start my own youtube review channel to spite them.. nvidia and the aibs should just give them a sample for testing and then take those back once the testing is done, i would like to see them standing in the line just for laughs

hAVE THEY ANNOUNCED PRICES AND SPECS OF THE 4000 SERIES YET?

Yes.

4090 = £999
4080 16GB = £699
4080 12GB = £499

OMFG he said it... more you buy more you save... he really is a micky taker.

You know. I have said all along though, NVidia or AMD are not our friends and this kind of pricing shows it!

Yep, been saying this for years also. But one minute people saying I am a Nvidia fan boy, the next an AMD fanboy depending on which card I have

CardPriceLaunch Date
GTX 280$649.006/17/2008
GTX 480$499.003/26/2010
GTX 580$499.0011/09/2010
GTX 680$500.003/22/2012
GTX 780$649.005/23/2013
GTX 980$549.009/18/2014
GTX 1080$599.005/27/2016
RTX 2080$699.009/20/2018
RTX 3080$699.009/17/2020
RTX 4080$1199.00?/11/2022

Bizarre isn't it? Oh well, in approximately two years time Jensen can tell his Ampere friends that it is safe to upgrade I guess :p

Plus none of these announcements (below) state 40 series only for DLSS3, for CP2077 it looks like there are two new updates coming, DLSS 3 being one, and RT Overdrive being another. Neither Red or Nvidia state that this is 40 series only. You'd think they would have to catch the eyes of punters towards 40 series but instead it's still the same "RTX ON" motto so you'd think 30 series etc would still benefit.

On Nvidia's website they show the Nvidia 40 series as having DLSS 3 and the 30 series as being only DLSS 2. So I am pretty sure it is 40 series only?

Yup, a lot of the performance is "fake" due to DLSS 3 frame duplication. Pay attention to MSFS numbers, 4090 = 4080! The jump in CP2077 is so massive because they juiced up the RT a lot and then DLSS 3 just doubles it. GG

The 4080 faux edition is slower than a 3090ti. Interesting reference point

Christ alive this was world class delusion in retrospect.

And my more recent readjustment once we had more concrete leaks coming through ;)

4090 - £1800
4080 16gb - £1000
4080 12gb - £800
4070 - £600

I may still buy a 4080 16gb as anything <3090 ampere wise is going to hold its value very well given the mad pricing of 40xx so in theory, should be able to sell 3080 for what, £500/600? (hasn't been mined on and undervolts like a champ) Essentially making a 4080 16gb about £669-769, I said my budget would be £850. Just going to wait for reviews and see what amd do with rdna 3.

I suggested that - is it a hardware limitation, or a customer milking scheme? Not really a kick in the teeth though, it was always going to be superceded.

I think there might be a particular feature of dlss 3 that does require hardware after reading up on it there so maybe not quite the kick in the teeth as I initially thought..... but if it doesn't require any hardware from the 40xx to get the benefits of dlss 3, it will be a kick in the teeth.

Based on DF early footage (obviously take with a pinch of salt), it does look "promising":

But hard to say until we see the settings and more examples outside of nvidias PR poster boy, he did show some spiderman with it too which looked "promising" as well, soon find out though!

Nvidia are 100% correct to be focusing on AI/ML though, it literally is the future for a **** ton of applications/use cases, all the projects I am working on atm are utilizing some form of AI/ML, although utilising things like googles powered solutions, there is only so much you can achieve with hardware.
