NVIDIA 4000 Series

They appear to be gambling that people will equate ray tracing in games to 'next gen', but the problem is, it doesn't really do much to improve graphical detail in games, it's a purely optional feature in at least 90% of games.

RT appears to be their big strategy, and way to distinguish themselves. While you're right it isn't a big deal now, I think we'll start seeing games that require good RT for the higher graphics settings. Instead of being an optional extra, it'll be a thing you turn off to get more performance.

NVidia's strategy of working with developers and making it rain graphic cards pays dividends.

They should add an Ultra+ preset or something, so we don't have to play with settings to get good performance, just set to ultra or maybe high.

RT isn't new now either, so people should disregard their hard selling

On the news today the cost of living crisis and energy prices going through the roof. Nvidia I know let's release a card that's X2 the price of the previous generation that eats electricity like no body's business.

I think I'm going to rule out this gen due to NV still using hot running GDDR6X, do not want

Who wants a PC part that frequently reaches 90 degrees C in gaming?

Would prefer GDDR6, if the memory bandwidth is still competitive.

Bonkers pricing.

I’m pushing 40, me and my Mrs both have decent jobs, a fairly cheap mortgage and no kids so you’d think I’d be target market for high end pc gear and tech but I can’t afford these.

Thankfully I was one of the lucky ones who got a 3080FE in 2020 and let’s face it it’s hardly struggling.
Hence why i told someone here to grab a 3080 but got laughed at lol.

Its as if the 3000 series cards are all of a sudden crap and cant play Witcher 3 in 720p res anyore

Does anyone here use RDNA2 cards (top end ones) on Davinci Resolve? I am doing a lot of work with that program right now and a lot of AI work - and with my current rig (5950x with 3080FE) I might see if I can nab a cheap as poss 3090 as I need the memory. Also tempted to jump over to workstation level so I can go dual GPU as I think Resolve 18 will take advantage of more GPU power. If AMD have solid support then dual RDNA3 cards could be the order of the day. Also colouring the issue with getting a 4090 is my PSU is an 850W Corsair Titanium pretty sure I saw a JonnyGuru review saying it was a solid PSU and could sustain like 1050w before shutting down, wonder if that will contain the transient spikes?
