NVIDIA 4000 Series

Thats the issue for me.

We have this 4090 which has way too much grunt lol, who needs all that horsepower now, unless you want to play games at 800fps or something. :)

The 4080 12 gig I expect will still be faster than the current 3080 so again enough grunt, but not enough VRAM.

The bits I am interested in are 16 gig VRAM and the new encoder. But now the encoder is part of the spec sheet I expect the 4070 and below to get a gimped version, and I will be surprised if there is a 16 gig variant of the 4070.

Really wish GPUs were modular. :(
ok my 3070 cost £470 which I forgot about, but still holds, 3070s should now be selling for £300 by now, of course the world has gone nuts so nvidia joined the nuts party. Soo 4070 might be worth it around £500 but the price creep is annoying.

I think I'll wait for a worthy game.

I don't think a 4070 is going to be anywhere near £500. The way they have it, I'd say it's more likely at £700 - £750. Unless they pull the memory option trick of a 4070 12GB and a 4070 10GB, then I bet the lower 4070 will be around £600.

Definitely wait for a worthy game. Wait for a few. No game is worth £700!

With the £ now at 1.08 maybe there will be a CB (City Bankers) Edition. On a brighter note, if the pound should fall to parity with the Dollar, then the Government could be forced to resign.

Just to really show the selling points, from the current OCUK listing:

NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 40 SERIES FEATURE LIST

  • NVIDIA Ada Lovelace Architecture
  • Up to 24GB GDDR6X Memory
  • DLSS 3 AI Upscaling
  • Real-time Ray Tracing
  • NVIDIA GeForce Experience
  • NVIDIA Shadowplay
  • NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible
  • Game Ready Drivers
  • Resizable BAR
  • VR Ready

The only arguably new feature is DLSS3, and that's an iteration... No fault of OCUK, but GPUs have now stagnated.

You can't polish a Cyberpunk, but you can roll it in Ray Tracing.

To be fair Cyberpunk has plenty of polish already in between the T-posing and paranormal activity police.

Roll on the update for RT Overdrive though and the new reworked DLC engine.

Not sure when you last tried cp 2077 Bill but if not for a while, it has had plenty of updates since launch, last couple were big ones too so might be worth trying again if it has been a while. Still probably my favourite game over the past 2 years, I did start a 3rd playthrough but was holding of for a 4080 as 60 fps isn't as enjoyable as 90+ fps and well we both know how that turned out  Maybe RDNA 3 will deliver  If DLSS 3 is as good as it could potentially be, I might be tempted but only if prices crash unless AMD this time can either beat on the RT grunt with rdna 3 or/and have a dlss 3 competitor in a timely manner this time.

Pretty impressive given how a select few slate the game ;) :p :D

imo the best graphics ...well that i've played ...this is the best, with ray tracing on too. I completed it and was much more enjoyable than I thought it would be.

Tbf it has been a while, I was pretty scarred. I might give it another go, but if the guns still have zero impact, and moving around still feels completely frictionless (can't put my finger on it, moving just felt OFF) I just won't get into it.

May be worth another go though.

Yup nothing comes close to the "overall" look and feel of the game world, other open world games always just feel so empty and lifeless in comparison and is usually why I stop playing them after a hour or so.

It has come along way for sure. They made a lot of changes to the car control/mechanics among various other things. Worth trying again. Guns/combat wise, not quite sure what you mean, I always found the guns to hit "hard" especially the revolvers/hand cannons and even more so once you have put a few skill points into the extra damage etc. If anything, it's a lot harder than when first released, you hit a point here you could easily move around and kill with ease with taking little damage, when I last played it but now..... I couldn't have the same playstyle as kept getting killed instantly so had to use cover more often as well as take drinks/food to increase my stats.
