NVIDIA 4000 Series

Just to really show the selling points, from the current OCUK listing:

NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 40 SERIES FEATURE LIST

  • NVIDIA Ada Lovelace Architecture
  • Up to 24GB GDDR6X Memory
  • DLSS 3 AI Upscaling
  • Real-time Ray Tracing
  • NVIDIA GeForce Experience
  • NVIDIA Shadowplay
  • NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible
  • Game Ready Drivers
  • Resizable BAR
  • VR Ready

The only arguably new feature is DLSS3, and that's an iteration... No fault of OCUK, but GPUs have now stagnated.

You can't polish a Cyberpunk, but you can roll it in Ray Tracing.
I think I used DLSS on 4 or 5 games over the past 2 years so it's not a feature I'd consider as must have especially now with FSR being an alternative and certainly not at the expense of proper raster performance.

No stock is paid for, also very little stock is landed yet, when stock lands we book in at a live rate minus 2 cents for safety. As such prices get updated daily on stock not yet landed or paid for. Pound keeps weakening, then prices will keep increasing. When we only have 6-8% margin to play with, we unfortunately don't have the luxury of not worrying about price as we simply don't have the margin buffer to swallow any cost movement due to exchange rate swings.

Pound recovers, prices go down.

If the rate was 1.40 or got back there then a 4090 would be £1399, so a solid £300 reduction on MSRP product, it has such a dramatic impact on high value items. If the pound does not recover the only other way the price can drop is if NVIDIA reduce the USD cost to buy.

I'd really hope that 1.10 is the bottom for the pound, it has been in decline for years against USD now at somepoint it has to at least stabilise as its having serious impact on everything.
I remember the days it was above $2 and now we're getting things like this.
Mine you that was probably before ati joined amd and nvidia was on the 8800 series

I have a 3070 and Corsair hx750, what ate my PSU options when upgrading to a 4080 16gb?

Do I have to wait for a 1200w PCIE 5 psu?

Nvidia recommend the 750W for the 4080 16GB. No you won't need a PCIE 5 PSU I'm sure.

Here you are:

"While wattage is one thing, the physical connection to the power supply is a whole different story. When the RTX 30 Series was revealed, Nvidia announced that a new 12-pin connector was needed to connect the card, but the adapter came with all Founder’s Edition graphics cards. For the RTX 40 Series, it appears to be much the same.

If you decide to pick up a Founder’s Edition of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 Series cards, you will receive a 3x PCIe 8-pin to 12VHPWR cable adapter for connection. If you don’t want to use that, some companies like Corsair are selling cable adapters for existing PSU lineups to work with new RTX 40 Series cards that require 450W or greater PCIe Gen 5 cables."

Nvidia are as slippery as they come, any little trick they can use to fool you to sell more gpu's or make them seem more attractive than they are then they'll use it without doubt.

The more you buy, the more you save!

Tbh the £650 3080 10gb was the best GPU of the last generation and still looks like it'll be the best GPU of this new generation, I can't see nvidia being able to release anything for £650 that tops it and even then whatever we do will probably end up with only 8gb VRAM if ADAs form continues.

Surprised you got a like from gpuerilla with that that post. At least he finally admits the 3080 was the best GPU of the last gen after laughing at it only having 10GB for two years :p

Not sure when you last tried cp 2077 Bill but if not for a while, it has had plenty of updates since launch, last couple were big ones too so might be worth trying again if it has been a while. Still probably my favourite game over the past 2 years, I did start a 3rd playthrough but was holding of for a 4080 as 60 fps isn't as enjoyable as 90+ fps and well we both know how that turned out  Maybe RDNA 3 will deliver  If DLSS 3 is as good as it could potentially be, I might be tempted but only if prices crash unless AMD this time can either beat on the RT grunt with rdna 3 or/and have a dlss 3 competitor in a timely manner this time.

Cyberpunk 2077 Has Attracted More Than 1 Million Players Every Day This Week

Pretty impressive given how a select few slate the game ;) :p :D
I purchased CP2077 on release day for £18 via the Russian site via VPN (thankfully Putin waited till Feb to start his Special Op!) and still haven't played it yet.

I was waiting for it to be well patched up which it seems to be now and just like @TNA the final piece was hoping to get a ~RTX 4080 (hopefully at least slightly faster than a 3090TI) to come in at about £850 max which was the money I'd set aside for a new GPU. :(

Looks like I'll be putting that £850 towards a plane ticket so I can join @labbby and glue myself to Nvidia HQ windows! :)

He's a bigger shill than jay so yes.

I checked the shill dictionary and it broke the site..

Well you may go on MM and grab a proper card like some have and stop worrying about vram :p  there are probably clinics available for 40 series let downs..

Come on... one million? You realise that is the devs claim.
CP 2077 had to be relevant to help selling the new Nvidia cards, that's why it was promoted so heavily in the last couple of weeks. And most likely it had a good increase in playerbase. But one million? How can you believe that?
For me the game is a meme generator and the fact that the devs have focused more on the what Nvidia wanted than on what gamers wanted, kept me away from it. And they are still doing that right now. Nvidia cards owners should have that game for free.
Maybe when RDNA3 launches we will hear that Godfall has 2 million players. And brand new RT shadows. :)
