NVIDIA 4000 Series

Watching the scalpers is more entertaing and less frustrating than last launch. They seem to be trying hard, yet mostly failing. Their overpriced cards are surrounded by decently-priced, high-performance 3000 series cards with the occasional MSRP 4090 showing up now and then. (I could have bought an MSRP gaming trio 4090 twice yesterday.)

I saw one card get cut from $2600 down to $1999 and still take hours to move.
Hahahahahaha **** em scum of the earth I hope they get greedy miss the return window and loose money

One thing I don't get..... if ticket scalping is illegal why is no other form of scalping (apart from the kind that went on in the wild West ofc before somebody says )

Ah suprim liquid. I got the fan cooled suprim.

In other news I just did a real quick run of timespy extreme with an overclock... https://www.3dmark.com/spy/31461642

It was genuinely running 3.1ghz. Blown away.

Put me 92nd on both the single gpu graphics and overall leaderboard for the time being

Ah just installed MSI Afterburner 4.6.5 (Beta2) (Was on final series). Now voltage is unlocked and got a nice bump. Approaching 3100 MHz core at 133% power target and my cards running 60C in Superposition. This Gigabyte Gaming OC is turning out to be a pretty sweet card. And quite quiet too.

Great find.
Thanks

Some of the scalpers are having a laugh! £3600 for a FE

Windforce @1900. I wonder how profitable that sale will be. Lol

Windforce is actually the lowest card on my will-buy list. (I like the simple look of it) But, as it's at the bottom of my personal list, I don't think anything above msrp will get me to open my wallet.

Also means this will potentially exclude you from buying any further 4000 series card from the Nvidia FE store in the UK, as it seems to be one card per customer per generation still.

Imagine Nvidia will release a 'cheap' 4080ti in a year or so with very close to 4090 performance, which will be hailed as the second coming of Christ

It might do but I’m not interested in upgrading anyway, 4000 series pricing is a joke and I don’t need to upgrade. More than happy with my FTW3 3080, PS5 and Switch lol.

I barely get chance to game these days since having twins early last year  Hence no issue letting someone else take my FE invite lol

they do sell, ive seen it, people from the middle east are the big buyers, they have money and dont care, they just wantz itz.
I don't doubt that there is market for scalped cards...it's just really small this time. Scalpers are playing a game of musical chairs. It's clear the music is going to stop and many will be stuck.

Some of them seem to be reading the room and cutting prices to get out before they have to take a loss. $1999 Gigabyte cards for instance.

lol the 4090 founders edition is making a big statement in there - you know i was thinking if retailers should start charging restocking fees to contain the problem..
another way to tackle the problem would to keep the ordering page open, showing there's always stuff in stock, becomes a question of who blinks first, there could be a good way to model those joint probabilities like a real problem in game theory..

Ah, gz on the twins :)

Was just pointing it out that the FE store is one card per generation, so if Nvidia launch a £1000 4080ti with 90% of 4090 performance next year, you've given up your 'chance' at a FE card. Others may not know about this possible situation!

Scorn was released today, been playing a bit on the 3090 but damn the 4090's number is crazy high

I was getting 110fps at 4k thinking thats good but 4090 is well over 200fps

What is that util you are using to show everything?

Your massively CPU bound with a 7700k. Your minimum FPS values will dip very low as well.

You'll not get anywhere near as smooth an experience as you would with a 13th gen i7/i9 or Ryzen 7000 series CPU.
i agree at lower resolutions, where the cpu is busier, i'm cpu bound but at higher resolutions (atleast 8k, i use vr) the cpu doesn't do much, it's all on the gpu.
for example in msfs my cpu in task manager (i look at each core) averages 65% useage, whereas my gpu sits at 100%.
like i said, i asked someone with a 4090 / 5900x to test msfs with the same settings i use (he has the same vr headset) and when he selects high resolutions he is getting fps in the same ballpark as me. not quite the same as vr but look at 4k gaming benchmarks, they show cpu doesn't make a major difference.
