NVIDIA 4000 Series

wow 14 out of how many cards sold :D

not even going to be 1 in ten thousand effected, probably user error not fully inserting the connector then
That's 14 out of how many burned connectors? Oh, we don't have that number either, do we?

14 is just the number of people who bothered to post on reddit. It's unliklely to be anywhere near the total number of burned connectors in the wild.

some of them didn;t even post on reddit other people posted it for them from other social media,

but lets pretend gaming enthusiasts don't use the internet to artificially inflate the numbers.

4090 connectors all melt the new urban legend

Have some more copium.

This is a real problem.

And just so we are clear, it doesn't have to be "all" connectors.

don't worry dood, gamersnexus has been trying to make one melt for 3 days now, maybe soon they will manage it :D

Meanwhile people keep telling us they all melt, all you have to do is turn it on

funny how no one managed to do it yet on purpose... maybe the connectors work better than people want to believe

What percentage of cards with buring parts do you consider to be an acceptable failure rate?

This "all" connectors is just a straw man.

I guess as long as it's not "all" cards, it's fine right? Keep knocking that straw man down.

I don't recall seeing this many burned connectors, this close to launch, for any card, ever.

Leaked RTX 4080 12GB Benchmarks Seemingly Justify Nvidia Retreat

Performance only matches the RTX 3080 12GB

Tomshardware author wrote article made some errors. RTX 4080 12GB did not have 256 bit memory bus! Actually RTX 4080 16GB used 256 bit memory bus so the fact is RTX 4080 12GB used 192 bit memory bus. Performance did not matched RTX 3080 12GB accorded to videocardz so it sit in between RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti when power target was 91.8%.

If RTX 4080 12GB run at 100% power target then performance should be faster or on par to RTX 3090 Ti with 384 bit memory bus.

Accorded to AID64 GPGPU benchmark showed RTX 4080 12GB has 42 TFLOP FP32. RTX 3090 Ti has 40 TFLOP FP32, RTX 3090 has 35 TFLOP FP32, RTX 3080 Ti has 34 TFLOP FP32 and RTX 3080 12GB has 30 TFLOP FP32.

Maybe Nvidia will rebrand it as RTX 4070 Ti and sell it for $699 at CES 2023 that will make people happy with price compared to silly $900 with silly model number.

It shouldn’t be that difficult to get it to melt. Mine cracked after light gaming over 10 days and would melt if I tried to use it further.

Maybe, just maybe, everyone has a connector of their own? But it's promising to hear that GN has tested every connector in the world. That should help us rest.

That isn't how these sort of things work, whether it be the recall of a car to a burnt 4090 power connector, it is the possibility of it happening that is as big an issue as it happening.

that should be interesting, since the burn marks are only visible on exposed ends, i believe igor's solder vs crimp theory is on thin ice
because if solder was an issue there should have been visible melting of cables as well

What are they smoking... lmao.

Watched this and really, 8K seems pointless for gaming. Productivity on such a big TV (let's face it, no monitor is 8K currently right?) - But for gaming? Much rather have that locked @ 4K 120fps experience. That's 4k equiv for an ultrawide that is, not a 16:9 monitor. I'll never own a non ultrawide OLED monitor ever again.

8K is pointless for everything, always was. It'll be filed alongside curved and 3D TVs as one of those pointless technologies that manufacturers prayed would get everyone to buy a new TV.
