NVIDIA 4000 Series

Tbf I work in games, and thats all it all is anyway. Its all smoke and mirrors, nothing is real. Everything is just made around what the user sees. So like with frame gen, if looks better who cares if its actually a "real" frame.
I tried it in A Plague Tale Requiem and then switched it back off instantly, The lag was worse than with V Sync on I mean I saw terrible input lag with that AI Frame Generation enabled.

Maybe I had something setup wrong I don't know but that was with Gsync on my LG C1 OLED and with boost on the TV enabled also, Didn't set anything specific in the drivers other than Vsync enabled and locked the frame rate to 117 FPS.

But it was the worst input lag I've ever seen to be honest.

Oh yeah dont get me wrong they should be far more upfront about the drawbacks and the need to have every part of your system being as low latency as possible. But equally if you can afford a 4090 you can afford to do that . My point was more that the frames being "fake" isn't the issue. its the tradeoff in how its generated that is.

Frame generation works great in F1, no noticeable lag.
I'm at approx 100 fps without it, approx 200 with it, so no lag when get 100 real frames anyway.

To be honest it did look good in terms of visuals I really couldn't tell the difference between native and DLSS 3 but the lag was horrendous.

The only thing I didn't try was V Sync off in the drivers for the game, I'll try that next time, Maybe Having V sync enabled with frame generation is an issue but the rest of my system is very low ms response so I have no idea, The potential is there though.

Yeah it was kinda weird FPS was high at 117fps but the lag was terrible, Maybe the game or some driver setting, I haven't tried anything else yet with DLSS 3, I have Cyberpunk but not sure if they have added it yet to that title.

If you're getting 117 fps with frame generation then the real frame count is about half of that. May explain the lag?

Well all I can say is the 4090 is an absolute beast of a card. Especially when coming from a 3070.

FPS is at least double including increasing from high setting to ultra in all games.

The reviews focussed on 3090 to 4090 raster performance and yep, I am not sure I would have seen the point of laying out £1000+ for just 60% or so.

But from a 3070, I am getting such huge jumps in FPS, that all setting on a super ultra wide g9 is easy peasy for the 4090.
Yeah, and in two years' time it will be old hat and you will want a new graphics card.

Good time for Nvidia to release the reigns on supply.

After all, if you’re in the market for a GPU and the choice is between the latest AMD card or the Nvidia one which is out of stock, the choice is easy (assuming performance is comparable).
Most people will still go Nvidia better features.

Pretty sure i read that having vsync on is bad for DLSS 3

As far as I've read, v-sync is NOT supported with FG at all, by NVIDIA. Yes, you can force it in drivers, but it causes horribly high latency:

That includes limiting frames in other ways as well. This apparently (as per few other testers) also includes g-sync, which doesn't seem to be working properly in many cases.
