NVIDIA 4000 Series

Received a CableMod 3x type 4 cable today. I actually ordered another cable from them as I didn't think this would be long enough as my Tower 900 case. Emailed them asking to return it and they said if I sent them a pic of it cut in half they'd refund me :( What a waste of a cable. I'll put it up in MM so if anyone wants one they can find it there. Its black and white 60cm and plugs into any PSU with type 4 sockets.

Random question. Does anyone who's upgraded their adapter and/or has a spare known working 12v 4+8pin adapter that comes with our gpu's? I'm happy to pay.

It's the only thing I need rule out before I know whether it's that or the gpu itself. Retailer can't help, and the Corsair 600w cable I've ordered is on back order for another 2 weeks at least.
Sounds like one has something the other needs ;)

Interesting, thanks. Uncharted was another bad one for me, with my cards (menu and in game, native 4k).

Both my Suprim's could go to 115%. I believe 108% is correct if your using the Performance Bios, as it starts higher.

Haven't got Uncharted so can't try that.

Just been trying Cyberpunk, everything cranked but with DLSS quality on, and sitting in a silent room, the coil whine is extremely quiet.

Yeah dlss on Uncharted killed it too, its just I was getting 120+ in native so was a bit miffed about having to use it. :)

I'll probably just accept a low level of it if I have to. Head phones to cover a problem will never be acceptable to me though. I've spent loads on an great Atmos setup and having a silent system, with all the advantages that brings.

I feel your pain! I too love building a system that is or as close to silent as possible, the last think you want is coil whine in the background ruining great audio!

Wonder what the MSRP of the 4090Ti will be.

I’ll guess £1999 for FE and then AIB starting at £2200.

The way it’s looking the 4090 will still be the card to buy when the 4080 and 4090Ti are out.

It's time to upgrade boys, the 4090 is already outdated.

Unannounced Nvidia GPU (possibly 4090ti) shows up in blender benchmark database, 8% faster than 4090

Reminds me of this post. I guess some will be feeling ”unwell” again soon if that happens. We may see some heavily discounted 4090’s soon on members market. I still would not pay more than £800 for one though personally. It is essentially a 4080 as you said so yourself.

No surprise though, Jensen just doing his thing.

I wonder if there is a Titan also available if AMD surprise them with some other GPU.

It's
Silent mode: 450W
Gaming mode: 480W

So anyone doing gaming mode then limited to 70% power usage is doing it wrong.

They both have the same boost clocks

Cut in half?? What on earth? Never heard of a retailer asking for that before..::
I've been asked before and just used photo shop :p

was an old logitech mouse back in the day that had a dodgy clicker in the left mouse button and I didn't have anything elkse to use whilst waiting for the RMA..

certainly, wasn't about to make it totally unusable and go out and buy a cheap mouse whilst waiting on the RMA...

Over 8% performance? I doubt it... It's bound to be a hotter, louder and emit more coil whine than a 4090.

I'm guessing just about everyone is running 70% power target anway because the 4090 is already too fast

More 4080 16GB benchmarks

33% faster than 3090

After seeing a few 4080 benchmarks pop up now with various CPUs, it looks like the 4080 is a good choice if you must have Nvidia and you have an older CPU because if you don't have a good CPU then the difference between the 4080 and 4090 will be small but if you have a very fast CPU then its a big gap.

The comparison to the 7900XTX will be interesting considering AMD said it was around 50% faster in most games but that was 'up to'. Also the 4080 seems to be clocking rather high based on those benchmarks so doing a bit better than expected.

Why do I get the idea that people are accepting the higher prices. It seems that 35% performance increase for 100% more money is acceptable to people. No wonder NVIDA's pricing is out of control. To my mind the 4080 is NEVER a good choice! But I guess I must be just a cheapskate - not wanting to spend £1200+ every few years.

Because that's what happens with every generation when prices increase? What do you expect, mass organized and co-ordinated boycotts? The market decided what they will and will not pay, and many people are paying so clearly the prices are not too high and Nvidia/AMD are accurately judging how much they can squeeze from the market.

Because they are? I don't think any game really makes use of the new cards anyway though apart from cyberpunk.

so don't be sad if you can't afford or don't wish to be milked.

to some people there's still value in it like the no lifers who game a lot

Prob $2000 so £2200 and AIB's much more.

Totally agree. It's the worst price to performance regression I can remember in 20+ years of building PC's.

Nobody should be giving companies the thumbs up to this sort of behaviour.

My heart sinks a little every time I hear someone justify that behaviour.

You'll get the usual bull**** condescending reply about not being able to afford it, when clearly it's not the affordability it's simply being rational and taking a step back and seeing the bigger picture of this trend of wanting more money for smaller gains in performance and saying **** you, you greedy ******** I'm not going to keep feeding your massive profits anymore.

Is like the justifications about coil whine. Oh just get some headphones, I mean really? On 2k card you are happy with this solution?
Then there's the whole cable melting situation, with no statement from nvidia.
I swear there are a lot of deluded people on here.

Well won’t no longer have the best, that certainly will bother some, especially after paying that kind of money anyways :p

If rumour is true and 4080 is only 33% faster than a 3090 that would make it around 35% faster than a 3080 Ti. That is poor as it would mean paying well over twice what I paid for it. I knew that would be the case as soon as I saw nvidia’s pricing.

Interesting you say 4090 is already too fast. I guess I can agree with that from a raster performance point of view (for my needs anyway). But where it shines and is not too fast is RT.
