NVIDIA 4000 Series

You think people are buying atx 3 power supplies replacing their atx 2 to have a single cable? Lol, right, stupidity indeed.
That’s one of the reasons, especially considering the price people are paying for a 4090, and the issues that have all been focused on the cable alone. It’s not the only reason though:

  • Up to 3x GPU Power Excursion
  • New 12VHPWR connector to up to 600W
  • 12V rail can ramp to 12.2V allowing for lower voltage drops
  • 2.5 - 5x times higher slew rates for transient loads on the +12V rail (the rate at which the output voltage and output current changes)
  • PSU signals power capabilities to PCIe to enable power limitations on components such as GPUs and SSDs
  • Minimum of 175,200 power cycles
  • Greater than 60% efficiency for 10W load (or 2% of max-rated capacity and above 70% efficiency).
  • Rated for up to 200% of rated power for 100μs (with a 10% duty cycle).
  • Faster system wake up & Power On signal
  • ALPM to replace ASM

FFS. Just reading that Nvidia's priority access program is still in operation. Every time I log in to my Nvidia account and select my location as "UK" I come back a few days later to find that this field is blank.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Its still a damning indictment of the way people just 'throw money' at it, regardless of whether there is a real need or not.

I never managed to get one :( I'm not even sure I want one...I just need to stop sitting on the Nvidia website pressing F5 and the time it will save me by not doing this alone is worth £1,700 to me!

I feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only person who is having their location scrubbed from the Nvidia website every day, but it's pretty frustrating. Why would you build that sort of functionality in to a website/database?!

Or you can join part alert on telegram to get alerted of drop , and use phone to complete order quickly, it's what I did last time round with the 3080

I know the photo you're thinking of and whilst it's not me, strangely enough it's almost the same as my case - I have a 3090 wedged right up to the two Noctua NF-A14 front intakes.

Thanks for the input re Telegram....keep meaning to sign up but not done it yet. I guess on some level I must be enjoying sitting on this forum posting nonsense and refreshing the Nvidia website

Yes I totally agree. I was thinking about buying one for a 4090 build, but in the end I’m happy with a very good Corsair PSU. It’s not worth it for me. There are no reviews of these for a start.
