NVIDIA 4000 Series

It’s speculative but 5th Jan is the expected date.
Probably an announcment. Nobody in their right mind launches a product right after christmas.
when is CES? That is the one that happen in January right?
...the 4070 ti will be a rebadged version of the 4080 that wasn't a 4080.
They would get slated in reviews as it would be them openly and publicly admitting, that they did try and sell us a rebadged 4060ti 4070ti as a 4080

CES seems likely to be the announcement. I’m not sure when they would go on sale after that. The suggestion is also January and that it has the same spec as the unlaunched 4080.

I noticed this also when I first installed my 4090, there was no dlss 3 option, and after a little digging I found the patch hasn't even been released yet to the general public, for whatever reason? I guess it's just a case of keeping your eyes open for the next patch and hoping dlss 3.0 is included.
Yes I thought as much.

3090Ti to 4090, The performance uplift is very impressive, Not exactly the same time of day but same position in Assassins Creed Valhalla.

3090Ti 1440P max settings.

50 watts less with nearly 100FPS more, Very impressive IMO.

What I found very impressive though is the power saving, Capping the FPS to the 3090Ti of 128 the power usage goes down 146 watts from what the 3090Ti was pulling.

I do play at 4K on my 4K monitor but this was just a fun comparison.

Considering the 4070 isn't out yet and has no release date, I can't see the ti version launching Jan.

I don't think it is possible for the 4070 to be on par with a 3090 unless it is on the GA103 die.
It’s probably on the AD104 die which has 7.5bn more transistors than the 3090. It’s speculation at the moment but the initial indication is the 4070 is going to be quicker than the 3090 and significantly more so in ray tracing.

I heard it has 10GB of VRAM too.
Likely 10 for the 4070 and 12 for the Ti.

A 160 bit bus on a 10gb 4070 is likely going to hobble performance similar to what we've just seen with the 3060 8gb, even the unlaunched 4080 12gb didn't look any faster than a 3090 and that had a 192 bus and a less cut down die.

Needs to drop more

So the 4080 12Gb was shown by Nvidia to be slower in raster than the 3090ti. The 3090ti is about 7% faster than a 3090 according to techpowerup.
For the 4070 to have 10GB they will need to cut the chip down. So best case it is on par with a 3090 if it has 10GB. Being quite charitable to Nvidia with these estimates.

If they don't cut it down and do a straight rebrand, then the best case is that it will be slightly faster than a 3090.
