I'm aware I will be waiting longer between upgrades now. It just means I part with my money less frequently, which is actually a bonus!i dont expect that to happen the way pricing is going, im still on a 1070 and looking at prices and using toms hardware hierarchy list at 1440p as a quick comparison tool, to double the performance id be looking at a minimum of a 6700xt or a 3070/high clocked 3060ti.
the only card that is priced within the limit of my old card £390 is a 6700xt from a us supplier at £374 which would no doubt get me spanked import taxes and random charges so thats out, everything else is 6650's and 3060's.
i hope come the new year we get some movement on uk pricing but im expecting the 4070ti (the 4080 10gig) to drop at the £799 at best, so no movement in the less insane price brackets.
yeah after doubling my performance due to age of my gpu and the prospect il probably not upgrade for another 5 years the way prices are heading. guess im just finding it hard to swallow the comically bad pricing for mid range and older cards.I'm aware I will be waiting longer between upgrades now. It just means I part with my money less frequently, which is actually a bonus!
If I read that correctly then you are looking for a 100%+ increase?
If you were to go with 50% like i do, then a 1080ti/2080/3060 would fit that criteria or a 5700xt/6650 on AMD.
Some just went straight to the 4090 Matthew. You know the ones that slabbered how expensive the 3090 was joke of a price. £700 > £1700. That's £2400 on two gpu's in the space of only two years! Jensen: "the more you buy the more you save".
To add some perspective the RTX2080 which was widely regarded as one of the poorest cards recently was 34% faster than a 1080 for a $100 or 17% price increase, the 4080 is 48% faster than the 3080 an increase of $500 or 71% and the the 7900XT is again 34% faster than the 6800XT for an increase of $250 or 39%.This gen is another turding as far as I am concerned. By the time prices come down we probably will be 6-12 months away from next gen cards anyway so I probably won’t bother. What was great about the 3080 FE was it was a lot GPU for the money and you got it from the beginning of the gen. AMD needed a card like that, instead we got a turd that is the 7900 XT.
Yeahbbutt
1600 bucks for a 4080, why wouldn't you just get a 4090 FE for the same price?
Just pulling your leg
i probably should too reallyCame to my senses and returned both the 4090 and PSU.

Fair play to you my man, but please make a promise to the whole forum that you will not now go and spend a few hundred pound less on a 4080.Came to my senses and returned both the 4090 and PSU.
If feasible, I say get both.Yeah, if the 4090 and XTX came out at the same time, I'd be getting an XTX too.
You'll cave, as will many other 3080 owners. But to be fair, I don't recall you slating the 3090 price too much, although our boy @gpuerrilla may yet correct me on that.I've said before that I'm skipping the 4 series, very happy with my 3080 TIFE, but have to admit, I was tempted by the 4090 FE the other day.
Managed to hold on until it went out of stock.
I was semi tempted by the 4090, to go with my 13900k but eh, dunno, seems like a colossal waste of money going from a 3080 to a 4090 when I only game at 1440p
