NVIDIA 4000 Series

In hindsight nvidia will consider the 3080 msrp as a mistake and if the 3080 is going to be your measuring stick going forward, it’s gonna be one disappointment after another for future generations.

I wasn't expecting it to be £650 again , more like £750 , why was it a mistake 80 series was always around that mark the mistake was the performance to the 90 series was too close and suddenly now because of mining boom and COVID and saw what happened they decided let's give it a try we don't know what the future holds it could also correct itself it's happened before

Sadly this and amd have followed in their footsteps so think this will be the norm now, well maybe a bit cheaper but certainly aren't going to see anywhere close to £650 again (especially given inflation). That and nvidia have learnt from the 3080 to 3090 fiasco i.e. most people wanted/went with the 3080 as it is/was within 10-15% of a 3090 but for £750 cheaper, I mean look at the witcher 3 benchmarks here and the gap or rather practically non existent gap between a 3080 and 3090:

And there are a good few games where it is similar, all that extra money for that....

It's no wonder there is such a gap between the 4080 and 4090 now but then again, ampere range was a bit of an odd one compared to previous gens, just have to look at all the 3080 and 3060 models we had.... so in some ways I suppose you could say they are back to the usual arrangement hence why I'm quite hopeful for a 4080ti to be within 10% of a 4090 for cheaper next year....

The 3080ti was nvidia doing course correction on price with capitalizing on the market dynamics of the time. They’re hoping to pick that back up with the 4080 but clearly the market landscape isn’t as favorable to them as before thus I mentioned the need for a £200 drop on the FE.

Of course AMD trying to tag along with their pricing doesn’t help as it starts validating the 4080 pricing further. Crappy situations for consumers.

What’s the Uk people doing for a replacement cable for the 40 series fe’s ? I’m tempted for a 4080 but would like to order all the correct components at once.
