NVIDIA 4000 Series

Eurogamer making excuses for Nvidia again. Eurogamer is only good for DF Retro and their optimisation guides. This and the High On Life review just reinforces my view that Eurogamer are totally out of touch with the general public.

The sums still don't add up for the RTX 4080 based on its launch MSRP, but looking at the RTX 4070 Ti, a $799 price-point seems more reasonable - there's a 24 percent increase in transistor count over the GA102 chip used in the last-gen flagship. Performance advantages may vary against RTX 3080 but generally, it's a decent enough bump. On top of that, there are two gigs of extra memory, plus there's improved power efficiency, alongside features like DLSS 3 and a vastly improved media engine. Judged by the economics of the here and now alongside the realities of using the latest process nodes, I don't have a problem with the RTX 4070 Ti.

I wonder if nvidia and amd will listen to backlash about pricing and make future products more affordable....LOL
Nvidia will let us know how much it’s affected them with a middle finger in the shape of a 4090ti.

For £2k I can either buy a 4090 or Mac studio and for me the Mac is the better deal and long term a better investment
I find your motivations weird though, what is your use case for the 4090 and the Mac? I'm assuming seeing as you were considering a 4090 you're a gamer, so buying a Mac is shooting yourself in the foot for that. Or do you do production-type-things and want a Mac for that?

Everything's gone up massively. Local bike shop just closed, as they say the cheaper end demand has disappeared. Still selling the high end stuff, but saying that even for entry level bikes from big brands, it's £1k.

MOst are used to being fairly well off and expect that to keep progressing. The money printing from 2008 delayed what's coming.

We've been as rich as we were gonna be for a good while. Many on here are 90's kids and later, will only have experienced this as their history and how things go economically.

Decline is coming for all, and for a good long while. Too much resemblance regarding current issues, mirroring the 70's.

A 4090 does make a good heater if you can afford the leccy.

Steve not holding back :D

Best option currently then, get a used 30 series upper end, enjoy games. Skip 40 series because you are being bent over a rusty bench however anyone tries to explain it.

I dunno, folk who got a 3090 at £1399 MSRP already bent over last gen.

Pretty much.

If DLSS 2/3 improvements are as good as nvidia have shown, performance and even ultra performance will be a noticeable improvement in IQ so ampere will last a good bit longer, balanced mode going forward and performance/ultra performance for the extreme demanding RT titles and here's hoping amds fluid motion/frame generation is good and works on older hardware to provide even more longevity.

So far the only gpu that makes sense to buy out of all this gen (including amd) is the 4090.

Well I'm guessing the sales for 4000 series are **** poor, as I had an alert over 6 and half hours ago for a 4090 and they are still in stock. A dramatic difference from the previous gen that all sold out within seconds. Now that ethereum mining is dead and all the people who couldn't previously get cards now likely have them and don't want to shell out yet more money for over priced toys. Hopefully sales stay dreadful and nvidia and AMD get a well deserved reality check.

I bought myself a PS5 to tide me over until PC hardware becomes a bit more sensible again. And frankly it feels like a bit of a bargain in comparison.

I will hang onto what I have for as long as possible, but everyone I know has zero interest in the RTX4000 or RX7900 series, because most of us are mainstream gamers.

Yeah video / photo editing and 3d modelling I have a 13700k with a 3070 which I was looking to upgrade to the high end card but not paying these silly prices anymore so buying a Mac studio and a ps5 is better value in my eyes .
