NVIDIA 4000 Series

Wasn't expecting this to happen (spent the last few weeks trying to decide on with AiB) but managed to pick up a 4090 FE.

Now I've got to order all the other components for my completely new build. Making the 'saving' that the FE brought makes that easier to do though.

only thing i got so far was a cablemob hpr cable to replace the octopus, cpu/mobo/ram is a thinking point :P

This! 4090FE could easily have been a few hundred dollars more and sold out. The pricing of the 4090FE is probably hurting sales of the 4080FE...
They probably didn't set it higher as it would have well and truly scuppered their board partners, who would have then had to try to sell even more expensive cards.

It's a couple of pages back now (went to walk the dog) but thank you all for the input to my quandry.

Looks like I might go full circle again and look for a 6900/6950. I would like the boost in RT from nvidia to try it but in all honesty I am not that bothered about it.

I'll see what reviews pop up today regarding perf. I have £900 sat ready to go so i'll see what I can find.

Thanks again.

They dropped 3090ti and other ampere high end when mining went bust. When they clear out ampere expect price drops as sales look weak for ada.
I doubt that was because of mining, especially as IIRC they dropped the prices of some high end cards months before the crypto crash, if anything they dropped prices because 40 series cards were a few months away. Nvidia probably doesn't care if ada sales are weak, they'll just hang onto all the chips that don't go into FE cards or get sold to AIB's until they're all sold. Whether that's during the 40 series lifetime, the 50's, or even the 60's ain't going to make much difference to them.

The 4090fe is not that bad to buy if you can afford it, yes the AIB 7900xtx can get close to 4090 speed but only when overclocked to extreme level's and that's against a 4090 stock. Plus the 4090fe RT is so much better. and if your going to spend £1300 on an XTX AIB card you might as well go the whole hog on a 4090fe and be done with it.
I was so close to buying the 7900xtx MBA card, but so pleased i waited for user's feedback. and sure enough this hot spot temp hitting 110c plus its still winter made my purchase of the 4090fe even sweeter.

It run's nice and cool, i dont have to overclock it. but it has room too if you want to.
