NVIDIA 4000 Series

The RTX4070TI isn't a 70 series card but a rebadged 60/60TI series card. The GPU is under 300MM2 too like a GA106. People keep forgetting Nvidia released an AD103,so the AD104 actually is now the same position as the GA106 in the lineup and the AD103 is basically where the GA104 was positioned.

But more importantly look at the amount of shaders and memory bandwidth relative to the top end dGPU in the range,ie,the RTX4090.

But even ignoring die size, just look at the shader count:

The RTX4070TI has 47% of the shader count of the RTX4090,half the VRAM capacity and 50% of the memory bandwith.

Now look at the RTX3090TI vs the RTX3070TI:

The RTX3070TI has 57% of the shader count of the RTX3090TI and 60.3% of the memory bandwidth of the RTX3090TI.

Now look at how it is compared to the RTX3060TI:

It has 45.2% of the shader count of the RTX3090TI and 44% of the memory bandwidth.

The RTX4070TI relative to the RTX4090,is basically what the RTX3060TI was relative to the RTX3090TI for the previous generation, with a die size of the RTX3060/GA106 series.
This a 100 times for anyone saying that shaving off a couple of bucks is fine.
£800+ and you have to turn down IQ, nevermind futureproof, it's not present proof.
Well, since is more like a 4060ti card, that should be up to $400 and mostly for 1080p and 1440p, ergo enough. :P

8 GB was a real problem, but 12 GB is more than fine. This is one of the weaker arguments against the 4070 Ti imo. I have seen no real data to indicate otherwise, particularly when including DLSS (aka settings for actually playable framerates).

It's nearly a grand for 12GB and is already vram limited in spiderman. What's with the 4070ti shilling, you are worse than Rich over at DF. it's obviously **** at its msrp.

Even if we were throwing Nvidia a bone, and said it was an RTX3070 successor,it still should have started at under £500.

But when Nvidia is proudly announcing that the RTX4050 will only be found in laptops starting at $1000,it seems they have become worse than Apple.

Digital foundry pulling out ps5 performance at end to make the 4070ti look good is a joke.

A 4070ti pc costs so much more money, so it bloody should be faster.

Imagine turning up at McDonald's car park in a Tesla and reminding some boy racer that your car is 4 times faster than their mothers Fabia. Ha

is 12gb enough?

The 4070ti's problem is less about vram amount and more about its low memory bandwidth

It often gets handily trounced by the 3090 and 3090ti at 4k because it only has enough bandwidth for 1440p gaming

Just like the 3070 was a faked card from Nvidia last Gen, so is the 4070ti this time - Nvidia continue to screw over its 70 series they should just cancel it

The results speak for themselves:

Nvidia says 3070 faster than 2080ti, the 2080ti proceeds to spank the 3070 at 4k gaming because it has too little vram

Now Nvidia says the 4070ti is faster than 3090ti and woop Dee doo, it actually loses to the 3090 because it doesn't have enough memory bandwidth

It's not even an apples to apples comparison. The PS5 is a complete system which even includes a wireless controller. The 4070ti won't work without a motherboard, cpu, ram, ssd, case, etc.

I wonder if Eurogamer get embarrassed when they shill that hard?

Yeah, I lol’d when Digital foundry put up a graph trying to compare a £500 games console against what’s around a £3000 i9/RTX4070ti Gaming PC and claiming it offered value for money because the frame rate was 60 rather than 30 fps !

:D

We have a new card that appears to be barely any faster than a two year old 3080 yet costs more money. I know there are supply problems and global issues which have led to this situation but it’s hard not to be disappointed in that context. The only silver lining is that at least stock should be fine.

If this was the usual 70 tier pricing £469 ? I would be recommending this for 1440p and would be really good deal , sadly it isn't

3070 was like £500 msrp why would it ever be below that? Wasn’t 3070 ti 650 or something?

Hard to say how’s it all gonna turn out…. How long would it take for them to change pricing… maybe swing by 10-15% max from where they are … a game of chicken between amd/nvidia after next earnings call I guess

The RRP was under £500. The FE started at £459. The RTX2070 started at slightly below £400,IIRC,for the cheapest models.

But the problem the die size is more like a 60 series dGPU at under £300,and the relative provision of shaders, memory bandwidth, etc seems closer to a 60TI or 60 Super series dGPU:

Personally they can keep their pricing. I am not going to be jacking up my budget by £100s of each generation to feed Nvidia and AMD increasing margins for dGPUs and CPUs. As much as they are not charities -neither am I! Plenty of other hobbies and pastimes to spend my money on.
