NVIDIA 4000 Series

That, but also keep in mind they are double overpriced products, prescalped by Nvidia. If 4080 would have come as 3080 was to the 3090 (both in performance and price), you wouldn't have the same availability. Scalper would also run wild.
The 4090 was popular-enough to sell out initially, but the number of people who want/need it at over $2k (scalped) is drying up now.

If these things could print money quickly the way they could during the mining boom, the demand would be virtually insatiable.

The answer to "How many money printers would you like to purchace?" was "MORE".

That market segment was limited by things like how much space they had for mining rigs and how much power they could pull from the grid at their location.

Now we are dealing mostly with gamers and scalpers and we seem to reaching equilibrium in a way that we never could when Ethereum was profitable to mine.

We are really lucky Ethereum went POS too. Ada has turned out to be very efficient and would have reuired less energy to print money. (So ROI would have been better than Ampere)

Have Nvidia halted UK 4090 FE drops in order to give the board partners a chance to sell some stock?

AIB 4090 stock seems pretty healthy basically everywhere online.

I've been considering an FE, and pretty much refuse to pay more than the FE RRP for an AIB card. Wouldn't be shocked to see prices come down a bit in the next couple of weeks. Will probably give it another two weeks until I pull the trigger.

Nothing wrong with getting a 4080 if you really need an upgrade or have no card.

People who had anything 3080 and above and who got one got ripped off big time though, because no way is that expense worth it for the improvement they'll get unless running 4k.

Moreover, they are a big part of the problem when it comes to current pricing. FOMO fools with more money than sense.

If Jensen slashes the price of them to £999 I may consider grabbing one to help him clear some stock.

I'd sold my 3080 for more than I paid so was without GPU, managed to snag said 4080 for just under MSRP so whilst grossly overpriced not as bad as it could have been.

Bit different for you again Matty due to you doing a bit of good trading, making a profit on the initial investment so the hit wasn't anywhere near as heavy as it was for those whoppers who paid over a grand for a 3080 in 2020, sold it for 500 quid recently and then bought a 4080 for 1200 quid. That's just crazy trousers. Jensen with his 'Moore's Law Is Dead' ******** loves these fools.
