NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

hardware unboxed couldn't hear fans over case fans and max performance on alan wake 2. Well done to that young chap and the rest of the team on the design.

The average over 17 games at 4K is 27% according to HUB.

Basically some games seem to benefit a lot more than others which drags average down.

STALKER 2 42% gain in at 4K is kind of impressive though.

Polish website running one of the best benchmarks out there, checked 1440p first: 21% raster, 25% RT (many games average, including CP2077 RT, PT, Alan Wake, Wukong etc. etc.). In 4k bit better: 29% raster, 29% RT. Seems to be well balanced raster VS RT, but dreams about 50% faster RT might be only valid in some very edge cases. So that's it, it's pretty much 4090Ti, as expected.

Edit: Alan Wake for them which seems best case scenario, is 35% RT improvement over 4090 in RT in 4k. Less so in raster.

Me watching the reviews:

I just have HUB picture in picture and this forum. **** that 4 at once. lol

Oh and do I see Jay2C? The shame of it, the shame of it!

Exactly what we expected:

- 35% raster uptick over 4090
- 32% RT uptick
- Performance/price is suicidely dire
- Power draw is butts up to 500w under load

On the FE...

- Fans are loud
- Disassembly is a headache
- Temps are ok-ish

Surprises

- High idle power draw
- BIOS limited memory overclock restriction

hopefully this will shut all the people up who claim it has slower raster performance than the 4090... and weirdly there were a lot of them.
What? That doesn't even make any sense and I've not seen such claims - it has more CUDA cores, how could it be slower in raster? :D I think you might be confusing it with 5080.

That is disappointing tbh.

Still, if you love RT, it is nice boost. Surely you will have to upgrade? :p

well... paper launch is live next thursday. by the sound of it there are barely any cards for the UK. especially as businesses will be buying these as well.
Gonna be a **** show.
Yeah, I waited until May after the 4090 launched to get my FE. At the time there was finally enough stock for what was 30 to 45min window for people to get their order in. I'm pretty sure we will be waiting a lot longer this time round for such a large window to open up.

i suspect in many areas of the game you will be CPU bound. I am with a 9800X3D and 4090…

It's exactly what I said, one needs both raster and RT nicely paired together - and it seems they at least balanced it well this time. Also, current tech can't speed up RT much, it would need MUCH MUCH faster vRAM than GDDR7 can provide, as per Sony and AMD engineers, who work on such solution. This seems to be as good as it can get with current vRAM tech.

It's depressing to see the continued march towards decreased price/performance which has reached the point of being comically bad (and those numbers are on RRP and 95% of people will be paying more).:(

Guru 3D review - claims in the conclusion page that coil whine is very noticeable "8 out of 10", confirms the 41 DBa noise levels of the FE Vs 39 DBa for the 4090, and reckons it is around 25% faster overall without frame generation:
