NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

These are very good points.
I think Daniel Owens vid does a comparison of Transformer vs CNN.

I reckon 5080 is on my hitlist now and then to not hang onto it for too long. Just that 16GB feels like a smack in the face when you have 24 already, and games are pushing 16 already.
Thanks for that, the performance difference is negligible for quality and zero for performance - could be something to do with RT settings, as the performance is generally much lower than TPU's? Looks like we'll have to wait for more evidence before reaching any kind of conclusion.

In terms of image quality, ComputerBase specifically mention Alan Wake 2 being problematic, they seem to have access to games which other sites don't at the moment. I think it's probably a fairly safe assumption that DLSS4 will consistently be a better option than 3 for IQ over the longer term, or at least no worse, but may not always be the best option for everyone if the performance hit is tangible. And that's on 4090, so it could be worse lower down the stack though it could improve over time too. Memory usage also looks to be several hundred MB lower than CNN according to TPU.

Not by any means sold on 5080 yet, but 10% better performance (if true) in a mode that looks significantly better (if it does, CB seemed more sceptical) could be a slight sweetener to make up for my ideal option of a 4090 (or equivalent, which we're not getting this time round) still being well over £1000 used.

does this count as more efficient lol

Your mixing all kind of things together to prove your point. No one, sane or even slightly unbalanced, would claim that the 3080 would be faster than a 5090 in cyberpunk. That original FPS number was from nvidia 5090 product page and was measured against nvidias own numbers back when the 4090 launched. It was done to gauge the generational uplift which now is confirmed to be rather disappointing considering the increased price tag. So perhaps be a bit more honest instead of all that mental gymnastics you got going there.
i'm not trying to prove any "point"... I am stating what people on reddit said. that's it.
*shrugs

Whilst I'd love to upgrade my 3070 I'm not going to be paying these prices even though I'm in a position where I have the income to do so. I used to be one of the first to buy new tech but I think age has mellowed me out now! Let's see what AMD have to offer.

What will you upgrade to?

Anyways how often is there a 80% uplift in raster performance from one gen to another?

i dont remember the 900 to 1000 to 2000 to 3000 being over even 50% increase?
5080 but not counting on getting one on release as gonna be stock issues. Still a healthy upgrade from my 3090, vram concerns aside.

So who's changed their mind after these reviews ? Not that impressed ... especially for the cost. Content to stick with my 4090 until the 6000 series cards ( assuming they've moved on to a new node ).
I was thinking the same, be interesting to see what the landscape looks like come summer for both Nvidia and AMD.

I was going to buy an FE but not now. Second hand 4090 if the price is right looks a better bet.

The only perfect use case I can think of for MFG is FlightSim. In this case the base framerate and latency aren't actually that important, frame smoothing is exactly what you want.
That's the only game i use frame gen in. Everything else makes it feel like i'm rubber banding or something. The latency penalty is huge and/or i'm very sensitive to it.

I was still on the fence, but considering the above-RRP price nearly all of us can expect, now the substantiated results across 20+ review sets, not to mention their likely unobtainium, I'm probably gonna pass.

Has anyone seen any power limit testing, e.g. at 70% and 80%? Debauer included it in his 4090 FE video which was fanastic.
We do know it's hitting max TDP in a good many games/scenarios, and going a bit over on occasion:
