Nvidia acknowledge Stutter problem!

What would happen if, Nvidia find it to be a hardware issue?

Mass recall?

in short, yes

but, it would have been picked up at R&D stage. this is hardware specific, and as nvidia cant try every single variable, they can only pick at this kind of problem in the wild,

one thing i know for sure, there will be a fix soon, Nvidia dont mess around with this kind of thing

If it were a hardware issue, (I believe it isn't) I supposes they would first see if there was a work around in the drivers before ringing the alarm bells.

Above all else, I could go and get problems that AMD have and post them up. At least NVIDIA are working on the fix for this problem that no one seems to have that uses these forums. I was quite dissapointed to see you start this thread. I was hoping it was for a reason that didn't involve pointing out an NVIDIA forum where obviously you will get problems reported more so than people saying 'hey great card, no probs here'

It just frustrates me to see these threads from someone who isn't even using an NVIDIA card.

I accuse you of bashing by starting the thread. Simple as that and I did ask if you had another reason and you state in case somebody wants to buy one...I could spend all day here pointing out the flaws to any NVIDIA or AMD prospective buyer but instead I prefer to use my time in giving the pluses to both.

This isn't a dig at ya Tommy, more a frustrated NVIDIA fanboy who isn't seeing this problem and the many users here have not said about this problem either.

I felt this thread was needless and sad to see it to be honest.

Just because you are not getting the issue does not mean the info should not be posted on a graphic card forum. It does not matter which gpu he is using either as what he posted is valid info for people that are using gtx6** series cards. You say there are no people in this forum with the problem. I think there are 1-2 people in this thread that said they had seen it to some extent.

What tommy posted was info on a fairly big problem for 6 series users. If i had a gtx680 and had the problem i would be thankful to see this post as it informs me that i am not on my own and nvidia are trying to fix the issue. Its not about bashing nv its more about information to the people that want it.

Agreed if it was posted from a 680/670 user who is having the issue but since it comes from an AMD user....

True. If nothing else you have to give credit to nvidia for acknowledging there is a problem.

ManualG seems to be very good at letting people know if issues are being looked into. Sort of reminds me of AMD back when Catalyst Maker posted on forum's about issues in the drivers.

What?

So far in this thread:

1. I highlighted that Nvidia have acknowledged the fault.

2. In reference to the 'oh they will fix it unlike AMD fixing anything', I replied with the 560 TDR fault which you had but luckily sorted for yourself.

3. I stated zero core doesn't work.

4. 7 series CrossFire isn't looking so good

So by your logic I should only be allowed to comment on points 4 and 5 even though there is a 9800GT getting used elsewhere in my house?:p

There is a huge thread over at Nvidia forums about the 6 series 'stutter' problem that's been ongoing since release:

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=226227&st=0

The problem has eventually been acknowledged by NVIDIA:

ManuelG(NVIDIA Technical Support), Post number #455:

'We are able to replicate issue. Only occurs on GTX 600 series. It is likely some how caused by polling code in our drivers since it occurs on a cycle and should be fixed in a future driver.'

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=226227&st=440&p=1407148&#entry1407148

Those two words to me are pointless. It just reaks of AMD Fanyboyism

Both have driver issues dave, just that nvidia chooses to acknowledge them and fix them.

AMD does not and when it tries to fix something it breaks something else.

Actually the release notes acknowledge as well as the beta testers telling that AMD are aware of issues as well as Twitter, the problem is that AMD do not have active representatives on there official forum so you have too know what other forums to go to get the feed back from the beta testers.

As for fixing things while braking something else, NV is just as guilty with plenty of users complaining and even rolling back on the NV forum.

Now tell me im making it up and i will start linking.

There is no doubt that NV do a better job at communicating with there users.

I went from a 5850 Xfire to 480sli (now a single 680) partluy due to drivers (say 50% drivers and 50% wanting more performance) driver **** ups for three AAA titles in a row and waiting 6 weeks for a 5xxx Xfire driver for Skyrim (only to be taken away and brung back again) was at the very least a Very poor show from AMD.

Not had any issue with drivers and 480 SLI or my single 680 as of yet.

If your happy with your AMD gpu and drivers then great but I and many others have been some what let down.

Nice to see them actually admitting there is an issue rather than trying to sneak the fix into a driver update. It's honesty like that that makes me think I'll be 'switching sides' as the fanbois would say at my next GPU upgrade.

I applaud Tommy for starting this thread.

I am a 680 user & I have massive stuttering problems with my set up. I did not know nvidia had identified the problem & were actively working on it. Now I do.

He's helped at least one person here so why has this thread turned into an AMD vs Nvidia thread?

Did you read that thread out of curiosity? Lots of guys have had fixes from using the latest 300.83 drivers.

I hope this helps you :)

I've got 2x460 in SLI and I experience occassional stutters in BFBC2 online HeavyMetal having 296.10 drivers, LOL ;-) So maybe it's not 6xx-series specific issue. It's not SLI microstuttering.

I did try the 300.83 drivers but they didn't really help tbh. I still had stuttering during games but I think they may of helped during video playback (XBMC). They also lacked SLi profiles for a couple of games (Alan Wake etc) so I was getting poor performance on some titles. My main game ATM is BF3 & they didn't make things any better there. I'm using the 301.34 now. They all gave me stutter so I thought I'd just stuck with these until a fix was available.
