NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

So we're over 3,000 posts without a product. I reckon there's a decent chance of 4,000 posts before we get the professional products and a 90% of 5,000 posts before the consumer products.

This is why they will still sell very well regardless of the price. Just look at the hype surrounding the series with little to no information. There are enough people who are always gagging to spend their hard-earned on the next best hardware component.

Ampere doesn't necessarily have to be more than 30% uplift over turing to be a solid justification to upgrade for those on pascal.

I just hope amd are competitive else nvidia will release the dumbed down 3070 3080 with more meager performance increases instead of the super versions right from the get go.

It does if amd deliver over 30%.

My main concern is if Nvidia,is using Samsung 8NM,as Samsung is mostly using that for smaller ARM based SOCs,so we don't know how well it holds up if Nvidia is mass producing much larger GPUs,ie,will yields be OK?? The only GPUs made by Samsung for Nvidia were smaller ones such as the GP107,which actually was a bit worse performance/watt compared to the TSMC made Pascal GPUs.

This is partially what happened with AMD when they moved from TSMC to GF/Samsung 14NM,which was a worse process than TSMC 16NM. There was evidence Polaris despite being a safe design based on the earlier Fiji/Tonga(Polaris was an evolution of the latter GPUs),it had to go through many production revisions. Then you have Vega, which in IGPs seems a very good design, but had lots of problems in the larger versions.
Yeah but if you have been following this thread the rumour is only high end stuff like 3080Ti and upwards is with Samsung.

Im looking forward to this series i decided to miss the 2000 series as i had bought a 1070 and i didnt want to upgrade. I now feel my 1070 is stuggling at 1440p 60fps in most titles and wanting a decent upgrade that can fully max out the settings at 1440p 60fps. Hoping my wallet doesnt get a hammering tho as nvidia are playing funny buggers with there expensive top end cards. Im not paying £700+ for a GPU especially since the PS5 will be out this year too

I wasn't too optimistic about PS4/Xbox 1 at the time of their release partially due to the pathetic cpu they both have and the gpu power were around 7870/7850 respectively which at that time us pc gamers had access to much more powerful hardware (290x / GTX 780 Ti) this time I'm very excited for the new consoles! SSD as a standard drive which a lot of pc gamers I would imagine doesn't have a dedicated ssd for games. Also the cpu is much closer to the high end also the graphics performance if true around RTX 2080 performance + console overhead meaning it'll use it's power more efficiently vs pc so yes... consoles are definitely looking promising if under £500 with a game!

Yeah. I am looking forward to the PS5, though it will likely take a couple of years until we get some decent exclusives and games that are made from ground up that take full advantage of the new consoles. So I may just hold out and grab one then. Should hit £300 by then also :)

The RTX 3070 should keep me happy until then :D

The 2080ti is going to go down as the worst gpu purchase ever isn't it.

**** me if the rtx3060 matches the 2080ti and only costs $399

I'm just looking at the ti prices now, a few of them have magically shot up to £1500...even that pos gigabyte aorus. The msi trio has managed to hit £1400, that was one of the "cheaper" ti's at around £1200 at launch....
