NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Even in a massive downturn there are winners and losers - I doubt they will have to change the price much on the top end GPUs though suspect the mid-range will probably have to be priced more in accordance to the circumstances.

Absolutely, I'm sitting tight on my cash for the genuine bargains which will definitely be around. Tech is one of the first sectors to take a hit in a downturn, and the one will be a whopper.

Thanks for reminding me as i was looking at throwing a few K at ordering some motorbike stuff this weekend..

But Think i will hold onto that money for a few extra months and see if any great deals pop up..;)

If the 3080ti is more expensive than the 2080ti was, then Nvidia have lost the plot.

(and we'll probably end up buying it)

I've actually started just 'ultrawiding' my games now. Set a custom resolution of 3840x1800 and whenever you need extra FPS, just use the custom resolution instead. Sure you get black bars, but in return you better FPS, better FOV.

RT will not be a worthless buzzword... if games want to reach new levels of realism then they will need to use it. Just as light is critical to how a photo turns out, it is also critical to creating immersive and believable virtual environments. Shadows and reflections created using detailed RT will provide new levels of realism, especially in VR. New technologies take time to learn and use and I think this generation is where it will really take off.

While I do like RT, how the worlds reacts and just exists outside of the player action(s) has far greater implications when we already have "good enough" graphics. :)

I do this too on my 40" 4k screen. Turn it into a 21:9 3840x1600 screen or whatever I need for fps. Works perfectly, then I still have a big screen for sitting further back on netflix or whatever.

fingers crossed yes on the 14th, the gtc conference starts 2pm uk time, usually towards the end is when consumer cards are shown (i hope)
Owwww yeeeeea..... Leather jacket time baby!!! :p

I'm probably going to embarass myself here, but I'm going to make a bold prediction: if the 3080 Ti is released next week, it will be for around £1,000. And there will be plenty of people who will buy it at that price if it reviews well. But after the release of the consoles it will be reduced to about the same price as the consoles.

if the 3080ti does drop at 1k I'm biting NVIDIA's hand off straight away, for the same money as a 2080ti but with better power figures and more performance whats not to like, however as you say its all speculation and we could all being lead down the wrong rabbit hole for all we know

Why would the price reduce after the consoles are out? The consoles can't even keep up with the 2080ti.

So far the only 1440p 120fps game on the series x is a small racing game called dirt lmao, not even close to the 2080ti.

I'll probably bite on a 3080ti too. My logic is that Nvidia seem to be refreshing to meaningful levels every 2 years so I might as well spring the little bit of extra cash and be covered for a while. I'm also heading into my 30s so this might be my last GPU purchase as I'll probably have more important things to spend my money on in the next 5 years.

Also LG OLEDs having HDMI 2.1 and hitting 4k/120hz, I think I'll be able to actually use that power.

I'll then have to sell my RTX 2080. Wonder how much I can get for it. I always suck at selling stuff.

The XSX is 2070S-2080 levels, no where near a 3080Ti or even a 2080Ti.

Next generation that’s likely to be around 3060 levels of performance. And even then RTX performance is likely to be multiples of times faster.

There is no reason to drop prices especially when said console is likely to be £5-600 or possibly more.
