I think you might be right

Think a lot will depend on how good new xbox and ps5 are, if prices are crazy high for new GPU's I can see people turning to consoles. Time will tell I guess

One the main things that keeps me being a PC gamer is that my main Gaming setup is by playing games at my computer desk on a PC monitor..
(Also todays consoles don't support ultra widescreen resolutions so there no use connecting them to my PC monitor )

I can see people that mainly play games by sitting on a settee or laying back on there bed changing to a console..

Does anyone know yet if these new consoles support 3440x1440 resolution ?

People can only "turn to consoles" if they have very generalist and non-spefcific gaming tastes and if those tastes do not involve modding. If you want to play epic RTS or fantasies and mod the shizzle out of them then you cannot do this on a console except in the most limited of ways. PC's cannot be replaced completely by consoles for those kinds of reasons.

Personally I will likely buy a PS5 and a new PC gaming rig as both platforms have their strengths/niches.

I currently have 1070ti in my current pc, if 3070 is too expensive might just get 2nd hand 2080s and in years time get ps5. Dont think its worth getting consoles on release date as not enough games and there is always problems with v1 of new consoles. Exciting time thats for sure with all this new tech coming out at end of the year.

Yeah agree on the console launch, generally it's best to wait some months until the initial demand calms down and new games are released. It's going to be an exciting generation though, as the current technology finally allows truly open game worlds with no to negligible loading times. Also, visuals will see a big increase when developers get used to leveraging ray tracing.

I don't know about monitors but K+M support is on a per game basis. For example i know CoD warzone has K+M support on console.

The 2080Ti was £1049 at launch. Why is the next Ti going to be dearer considering the amount of stick Nvidia have received over the pricing of this gen?

Where do you get the "99% of the market" figure from?

I personally think people will pay (as they do the 2080ti) £1500 for a 3080ti. They will probably will pay £1500-£2000 if it a 50% performance increase on the 2080ti. It's around 40% from Ti card to card - 780, 980, 1080, 2080

The RTX Titans and other titan variants cost much more and people buy them. Those are the 1% of the market cards

Some people will pay whatever (they are fortunate enough that money is not issue or addicted enough they will take out finance) but as a % of the PC gaming market it probably is a fraction of 1% for 2080Ti and Titans that sounds about right.

The FE was £1049 as were the lower clocked cards with basic coolers, anything with decent cooling was £1200+ when actually in stock.

And the fe cards seemed to suffer more from space invaders syndrome so they were a bit of an iffy buy for some. You could get them replaced obviously but just more hassle. It had a good looking heatsink but performed pretty badly, almost no airflow hitting the components that needed it. Was like an apple engineer designed it, form over function.

That’s what the Steam Hardware Survey shows. About 1% of those users have each of those cards.

Next gen console will support keyboard and mouse. However, it's not clear as of yet if you have to buy a proprietary setup or not.

And, 1440p/120hz will be an option within the console.
