I've seen plenty rasterized games that look better than RT games. It's just not that impressive or important. I see it as another graphics slider like ambient ocluison.

I personally think that ambient occlusion has a much larger impact on image quality compared to ray tracing.

If a scene was full ray traced separate AO would not be needed , its not just one effect.

You are right, but I would take AO over most (if not all) the ray tracing implementations that we have seen in games so far.

Well, they look better in their best light (pun intended), as some can overpass limitations of classical rasterization in some areas, while others not so much. Depends how much you can stomach the shortcomings of classic stuff: glass that looks more like a metal/concrete/wood; limited, missing or bad reflections; pixelated shadows; sloppy GI, etc. Plus... indeed, "it just works".
