NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

It'll also serve well to heat your room in the autumn and winter period!

I was thinking about this yesterday and considering how warm my bedroom already gets in Summer when I do any gaming with my current modest 3300x / 1660 Super combo... then it would be pretty damn crazy, bordering on unbearable, with a powerful 4900x / 3090 setup.

I'd probably either need to get an air conditioning unit just to stay sane... or just not game in peak Summer. :p

Just saw a post saying that each Ampere GPU will need a total of 247 6 pin adapters to power it, making a grand total or 1254 2.5 pins needed? That can't be right.

Oh come on you have to photoshop that :D.

Nvidia would have to have a screw loose to make it more than 3 pins. Sounds like a pain in the butt for cabling already!

Also.

From what I have understood the pic leaked the other day of the supposed 3090 (this one)

Is not fake. Rather, they put an Intel chip over the card to hide something. Now we can see that is the back of the PCB, so they may be hiding this new co processor. However, you can also see it has 3 8 pin. Not two, 3.

That is because that leak was of a Colorful card in China. That is not the FE.

Going back to the 12 pin connector. Two 8 pin are not enough. They can not supply enough current. I guess on Seasonic they are confident that two 8 pin connectors on their power supplies! is enough. However DO NOTE. Those 8 pin connectors are not PCIE connectors they are Seasonic PSU "end" connectors and will most probably be wired very differently to other PSUs. As such you may well find that the after market "fits all" adapter will be 3 8 pin to the 12 pin to cover all scenarios.

Two 8 pin can not supply 600w. That is why the 2080Ti Kingpin, HOF, Aorus and etc (IE all of the ones that can be voltage unlocked) have 3 8 pin.

When do we expect these to be in stock do you reckon? I'll buy either a 3070 or 3080 depending on performance / price ratio :) New build needed for FS2020

Based on past experience they'll be rarer than hen's teeth for a good few months yet while preorders are honoured. Then prices will go through the roof due to lack of supply. Finally about March next year things will start to settle down.

I can't wait until March next year to play FS2020! Might have to buy a cheaper stop gap Gfx card to tide over then....

unless you're willing to preorder, but that won't be possible until the announcements on 1st sept as everyone is still under NDA. Also given current rumours I'd want to see some neutral reviews about thermals on these.

Prepare for the "trickle" feed of stock and the buy now because we can't guarantee these "low" prices for much longer.

They are going to be in short supply because they are failed Quadro cores that use too much power. According to sauces at least.

If they are going to have a processor on the back they will need a heat sink for it. Assuming it is true it would be interesting to see how they plan on cooling this.

:D you know it!

Then the miners will jump on for some awesome hashing power and its completely GAME OVER. None in stock anywhere, Jensen has a boner and the prices go to 2k+.

Followed by a lower price a little later saying we managed to secure a very good deal or found a bunch in our warehouse somewhere. Lol

i have a etho promo case so the card will fit :P
i have a six pack flower 2000w psu so i have the power :) and enough 8 pins for the adapter there better be an adapter that comes with these cards lol

Wonder if this new gen going be good value for money like the 2000 series was

What mean by this is there been some people that bought a 2080ti when they were first released and have now sold it for not much less then they paid for it..

I have a Corsair Obsidian 800D Computer case. Basically it makes a normal ATX mobo look smaller than an MITX board. That said I'll be selling it to get something smaller, albeit with teh capacity to comfortably house and cool one of the new 3000 series cards.
