NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I agree about Jen having the wind up him.

There was no 3090 in the initial leak. At all. It was the 3080 only.

I seriously reckon that Jen planned to launch a 3080 for £800 that is 15% tops faster than the 2080Ti, then he got a look at the Xbox SEX and PS5 and the snide farts began. It has been calculated that a really big Navi (like desktop Navi) would be as fast as a 2080Ti quite easily. I mean, that is the rumour as it began, but there has been lots of snippets of info to sniff between then and now. Like I say, the Xbox is nowhere near full fat and I reckon that is why Jen is going all out.

TBH? I like this from AMD. No BS, no "it feels the same as a Titan XP !" nonsense like we got with Vega. Just keep your mouth shut, don't make idiots of yourselves and come up with a decent product. It doesn't need to be world beating it just needs to be good.

BTW if his worries are unfounded then that is good news for all of us. Mostly because I doubt we would have gotten the 3090 otherwise, and most certainly not right now.

I can not remember the last time Nvidia released the high end card right at launch. They have done 80, then 70, then Ti. So they could get two sales out of the suckers who bought the 80 and then the Ti. Who knows, maybe this is a signal of change? I mean, there's no doubt that Nvidia have had plenty of problems over the past couple of years with Ampere. What if AMD have finally gotten a bit of luck?

You might need a few alternators for that thing :D

With a little luck they have a proper Dr. Manhattan swinging blue dick on their hands and they're just waiting it out!!!

:D

edit - Wow, I'm that old that dick doesn't count as a sweary anymore!! Sad face :(

This is the new Nvidia RMA plan. Bake it and send it back.
Well, Nvidia GPUs and chipset were the only electronics I have ever tried to bake back with Bumpgate (8800GT, 8500GS and a mobo AFAIK - irony was the 8500GS was an MXM card in an AiO with Intel Core2 board which was just badly design as they didn't wire the Intel IGPU out - would have been quite happy to ditch the MXM card and use the reliable onboard).
Nvidia and the shyster JHH never did stand by their product after shipping million of faulty solder part.

Richards everywhere, rejoice!

How have recent Nvidia launches gone in terms of AIB cards availability? Are some available at launch, or is it FE only early doors?

yeah usually it's minimum 3 weeks after, then a fair few 4-5 weeks stop to get into stock. They know that the first decent AiB card into stock is gonna sell like *crazy* so it's a bit of a race!!!

From memory I think Gigabyte won last time, unless that was for the 1080Ti.

The 2080Ti was launched at the same time as the 2080 and was released just a week after the 2080.

These are likely to be up ready for pre-orders just after the live/recorded whatever, event right?

wouldn't like to say, they could be but i'd like to know performance numbers and power usage before i'd take the plunge, if thease new cards dont offer anything soild over the 2nd gen cards i may hold off and see what amd have to offer.

Can always cancel a pre-order or send it back by then, if there's huge demand you might have to wait a bit to get one afterwards

Love the look of the reference cooler, if it's decent and the earliest one I can pre-order for shipping then I'll get that one. Haven't had an AIB card in a long time so if there is the option to pre-order if the price is decent then I may go for one of those.

Not sure what 3090 to go for now lol

wait for Custom versions or get the FE :/ arent the FE versions ment to be the best silicon versions and better power regulators and all that shizzle lol
or wait for AMD arhhhhhh need something though for Cyberpunks launch date lol :D 4k cyberpunk is a must at 60FPS ultra :D lol

btw few questions for some one to answer LOL is pci express 3.0 16x fast enough for these cards ya think i know there not out yet but surely they wont saturate that bus lol but i had to ask them being pci express 4.0 cards and all...

and 2nd is my cpu fast enough to max this card out its pretty old now intel 8700k @5.0ghz all core. ?

the 3000 rtx cards feature pcie gen 4 but they should be backwards compatible with gen 3, the fe cards direct from nvidia are indeed the cherry picked silicone which they will hold onto until evga asks them for some to create new kingpin cards XD

even though your chip is at 5ghz its only a 6 core and pairing with a 3090 may show some kind of cpu bottleneck for the best results a 8 core + with core speed will yeild the best results and if you can utilise pci e gen 4 that will unleash the full powwer of the new cards at 4k or more :D

Someone correct me if am wrong here but i think that still as fast or faster then AMD cpu's for gaming

if you use userbenchmark to compare somethings wrong as a 8350k beats a 3900xt in gaming for some reason, i'm sorry but in moden game titles more cores are becomming more revelent thease days and pairing a 3090 with a 8700k is ok but the cpu will start to struggle because of the powerhouse next to it eventually.

back to the rumor mill, wonder if we get anymore juicy info or is that that until the 1st?

I have a genuine curiosity about this. If the thermals are well under control, do any of you care what the power draw is?
As someone who's owned 295x2 quadfire I care because gaming just about doubles my electricity usage with just my current setup. It also means in the middle of summer I literally have to wear a wet T-shirt as my gaming room often will top 28-30C. Paying an extra £300+ per year for power to sit in a room that's like an oven for at least two months per year is something I really could do without.

You talk with a serious amount of conviction about something that is a complete guess and fairy story at best!
