NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

As someone who's owned 295x2 quadfire I care because gaming just about doubles my electricity usage with just my current setup. It also means in the middle of summer I literally have to wear a wet T-shirt as my gaming room often will top 28-30C. Paying an extra £300+ per year for power to sit in a room that's like an oven for at least two months per year is something I really could do without.

i've found someone as insane as me. I did the same with the 7990's in quadfire, i can really relate to your summers haha... i used to game in just my underpants in the summer but the good news was i never used my heating during the winter :D

i've always looked at it like this, i used to be a bit of a party animal, if im staying in gaming using more electricity i'm not out on the town spending £50 a night so it works out to be a cheaper lifestyle compared to my old younger self.

wow, i got old and boring.........

LMFAO... I have never read anything quite like that (wearing a wet tshirt just to game) in all my years of gaming and forum use. It's extra funny because even though it's an extreme case, it's so believable, and living in a 3rd floor apartment I have also experienced heat like this when gaming in peak summer. I am picturing it in my head and laughing now... :D

Was not as insane on the crossfire setups guys, if I did it was on two mid range. Definitely relate to the hot summers in pants dreaming of air-con though lol.

no one is "just gaming" though. That is the problem with these charts.

This is it. Even when I was younger I was using the PC for what its good at, productive work, media and regular comms (BB's, mail, IRC, programming etc). The whole point in Windows (GUI) was to start multi-tasking.

So yeah I will take a 3% hit in games if the other things I do get a ++% uplift over the intel setup.

There is no difference at 4K which is where these cards are aimed for, in fact you might see AMD ahead at this res as PCIe gen 4 seems to add a couple of FPS.

May not have anything to do with PCI-E 4.0.

My 3950X system I tested with an old Titan V the other day on Timespy using PCI-E 3.0 and it managed the best graphics score I have got compared to any of my intel HEDT setups.

It is an easy thing to assume the 3950X is better because it comes with PCI-E 4.0 but from what I have seen Ryzen is very efficient regardless of whether it is using PCI-E 3.0 or 4.0.

You can explore my friend, there is also Linux.. but if you power on, launch steam, play game, shutdown - then we cant really comment on that.

Actually are you posting on here from this 'gaming' PC?
Imagine not being able to google something about the game you are playing on the pc your are playing it on... damn.
