NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

That's exactly it, I wonder if 10GB would be exceeded at 1440p??

Must admit this is an ass move.

I rarely have any issues with 8GB at 1440p - in terms of actual real VRAM usage it is rare for stuff to exceed 5-6GB - that said if I was upgrading now I'd want at least 12GB ideally to give myself a bit of future headroom - 10GB feels a bit too like chancing it.

I've yet to hit 5GB.

Dont see much over 5-6gb on my ti at 1440p. Even at 4k never gets anywhere near the 11gb.

would have been better with say 12gb on the 3080. 24gb on the 3090 is just plain crazy though.

10gb makes it so a 2080Ti owner for example has to downgrade in terms of vram if they dont want to shell out for a 3090.

So for some they'll be seeing if there's any 20GB variants come release, if there is, the only way they could further screw up is by pricing them so high that you'd may as well get the 3090 anyway

I'm using 7.7GB here, this is nothing, its out in the middle of space. i'm never seeing less than 7.5GB. Its at 1440P.

If i'm using 7.7GB there, how much more could i buffer here...

or here... could be a bit less jerky?

10 GB \ 20 GB is all about the future you have to get the ball rolling at some point, for now and the next few years i should think for most Gamer`s 8GB will be all thats needed.

Regualrly seeing my card maxing out on VRAM in MSFS - People with meatier cards saying they are seeing it top out at 11-12GB. So yeah. no way im buying a new top end card with only 10gb. regardless of speed.

The irony of it all is. people have built such (unfounded) hype about the 3090 being 1500quid plus that if it came out at 1000 people would think it's a bargain. Even though thats 200 more than the 1080Ti was! Nvidia is playing us.

I think I might sit and see if 20GB model 3080's come at launch, I mean if they are already planned they must be close anyway? Or, maybe they'll be up for pre-order and release slightly after the others

They are not playing any one.

The 3090 is quite literally almost a Quadro. Content creators, encoders, renderers etc will all be rubbing their hands.

It is a halo product. Just like a Ferrari or Rolls. You don't have to buy one, nor get mad that it's too expensive. It is for HEDT, because workstations fell into the PC envelope years ago. You know HEDT? is every one mad because they can't afford a 3990x? no.

It isn't meant for you. Unless of course you either want more than you need or insist on 4k uber super duper. In which case? get your wallet out.

Funny how every one seems to be complaining about the 3090 but fail to realise that the 3080 is almost £600 less than most 2080Ti and should beat it quite handily. It will be better at RT, better at DLSS, and so those running 4k should find it much faster than the 2080Ti.

I repeat again, if it is not meant for you don't buy it.
