1070 has 8GB memory, launch price of $379 in June 2016. 2060 only has 6GB, RTX "feature" and launch price of $349 in 2019. So what exactly is the performance increase people waited 3 years and "saved" $30 for, 15%?

I thought I'd take a look at the latest GPU's ahead of my build next year and the entire GPU market is a wasteland of abject failure and price gouging. If navi isn't good I may not bother at all until Arcturus.

Edit - looking at benchmarks 15% performance improvement over the 1070 seems generous....

But it's more performance, so we HAVE to pay more, no?
A new generation shouldn't mean more performance for the same price! - Marketing departments & apologists.
It used to mean this for about 25 years though.
Although there are many factors here, its is a very big departure to what people are use to. Unless your much younger... And then you're use to it.

i wanted idle off fans too, as the htpc is pretty quiet. but im hoping that the fans arent that loud and there will be a bios flash/some work around in future, and theres a reasonable chance id end up in the on then off temp range anyways :/

Hello all - quick opinion please. Will be ordering a system shortly for 1080p gaming, potentially 1440p further down the line.

I specc'd it up with a GTX 1060, but I could probably stretch my budget a bit due to a couple of little windfalls (did I really expect First Great Western to actually give me a refund on a late train? Kerching!).

So the question is, for what will initially and potentially quite long term 1080p play, should I go with the GTX 1060, a GTX 1070Ti or an RTX 2060?

Alternatively, I could be persuaded by an RX580 or RX590.

I was all set to go for a GTX 1060 but now I'm a little concerned by 6GB or VRAM, I'm thinking 8GB is worth the investment, hence I'm leaning towards the 1070Ti or one of the Radeon cards.

Help please!

Got my 2060 today, Overclocked it and getting a timespy greater than a 1080!

Insane card for the money. Runs ray tracing at 60fps in BF5 on ultra however DX12 is still suttering for me and its super demanding 90% cpu usage on a 1600

In timespy with a 2060 overclocked, am beating a huge amount of overclocked 1080s. Cards well worth the money.

went for the palit, reading the reviews its one of the best overclocking cards out of the entire 2060 range.

Palit are our no.1 seller by some distance on RTX they are no.1 on 2060, 2070, 2080 and 2080Ti they’ve already sold 100+ on 2060 whereas the next closest is Gigabyte at 30 units and then EVGA in 3rd.
