Palit are our no.1 seller by some distance on RTX they are no.1 on 2060, 2070, 2080 and 2080Ti they’ve already sold 100+ on 2060 whereas the next closest is Gigabyte at 30 units and then EVGA in 3rd.

Palit never have a Backplate though... and the bare board would be particularly visible in my case, shame because they are the least ugly of the cards on offer.

OCUK had an offer before christmas I think. Vega 56 (Sapphire model) for £299 with the games.

That's not conclusive, just one persons initial investigation and spin on it. Probably got lots of hits for the video during a time people want to hit on the RT series :),
if it was as easy as that, why are NV going throught he complex process of getting DLSS implemented and working with the game devs? Interesting though but not conclusive.
So why don;t 4K gamers use that setting(1800P) if it gives a big improvement in frame rate rather than using native 4K?

Why? Simple, it's a very effective marketing tactic. As evidenced by the people rabidly defending a placebo, for a product they pay out of pocket for. Not unlike how people defend actual sugar pills dressed up as super-booster supplements. It's a tale as old as time itself.

And 4K gamers DO use 1800p or reduce render scale if they need the performance, and have done so for years since 4K displays came down in price from the $1000s, because GPUs weren't quite up to snuff for 4k 60, hell what is even now except a 2080ti? So they fiddled with every setting imaginable balancing visuals & performance. Look at the first major titles to make the render scale popular, Battlefield 3, that came out more than 6 years ago.

The greatest thing about DLSS is that it allows people a way to rationalize not playing at 4K but believe that they are. You can't underestimate how important such "tricks" are in business. If anyone thinks Nvidia got to be top dog based on hardware alone then they're chomping the bait set out for them.

Still torn between a 2060 and a 1070. Zotac 1070s are £320 on OcUK and 2060s from £350. I'm just concerned 6GB VRAM's not going to give huge longevity these days.

But with that said, I'm almost therefore tempted just to save £100+ and get a 1060 and see how things pan out in 12-18 months. Argh. I hate decisions.

Vega 56 :D? Cheaper and more powerful than both with games.

350 for a 6gb card is ludicrous imo.

I'm currently thinking 2060 but waiting for the right 1440 IPS monitor. The GPU I had my eye on seems to have disappeared; MSI Armor ?? I need zero fan technology. Yes 2060 is expensive but wannaugonna! So is the price of fish these days!

There are a number of games I run at 1440P (UW) that exceed 6+Gb of Vram.

No way would I be buying a 6Gb card these days.

Just a bad hardware choice, simple as that.

Live on baked beans for a while if you must, but get at least a 2070 if you have to have Nvidia.

Yes maybe a 2070 to go all out, although the 2060 can be overclocked to almost 2070 speeds. Games can still be tweaked if VRAM is an issue.
