The 8800GT is fully stocked over here in Hong Kong and going for around $2000, about £130. Any takers? :p

Seriously though, given the aforementioned benches are correct, that's a very menial performance difference in comparison to the GT @ stock.

I cant see how much they have got to optimise in the drivers seen as its just a GT with an extra 16x streams.

Seems a reasonable assumption to me, im sure in another thread someone stated that they use the same pcb etc: so is infact just a gt with extra sp's.
Weird thing is though for all its back orders and stuf the GT will drop in price not to long after the GTS is released so if it isnt miles ahead of the GT then the GT will still remain the best option.
And yes i do own a GT but i dont need to justify my card as i have had it since release day, i have been very happy with the upgrade i got from my 320MB GTS and for £20 couldnt have done any better. Im hoping these GTS are a vast improovmant over my card so i can sell it while it still as value in it and get another upgrade to tide me till the 9800(???) series are here.

It still a good card, and a good upgrade for those who don't have GT's, but for GT owners its gona be a pointless upgrade, won't be worth the extra its gona cost. :)

I dunno if its even a good upgrade for us without GT's. I have the old GTS and still prefer the price to performance of the 8800GT. Nvidia better make the new GTS a good price or it will sell as bad as the 8600GTS's.

Like I said calculated. We spent most of the morning on launch day hunting for the cheapest cards.

Yes so many calculations required :o:p

Not sure the GTX spanks my OC GT in most games. Technically speaking ;).

I prefer to listen to the many reviews, whilst Im sure you are painting an honest picture, the reviews paint an even bigger unbiased picture, and the review's tend not to try and justify their purchases ;).

With regard to benchmarks lets look at 3D Mark 06. Oh dear I don't see a GTX anywhere? :D

With all respect, who cares about 3DMark?, seriously you've spent so much time up Easy's ass you've forgot that 3DMark aint relative to actual game performance at all and means **** all bar e peen waving.

£150 might be peanuts in your deluded mind but to a lot of people that's a fair amount of cash. Oh and can I borrow your crystal ball Mystic Meg?.

The drivers used were possibly very early alpha/beta drivers and thus we can expect some improvement from those (the GT got multiple sets which upped performance quite a bit on release)

Take my posts with a pinch of salt.

150 is nothing for this kind of performance.Thats the point I was making.

Its just basic reasoning that the GTS will not come in at around GT pricing now.

Thats just my experience talking.

The GTS will use the same drivers as the GT.

Its just a GT with 16 extra SP's

A very childish remark.

Act your age and not your shoe size !

But come on 3DMark06 really is about Epeen.

Does it not have extra texture units too?

But come on 3DMark06 really is about Epeen.

Its a benchmark the people use to test hardware in a hardware enthusiast forum.

It compares differing hardware across the board.

Its a bit of fun too.

Squeezing every last bit out of ones hardware in an overclocking forum.About Performance hardware.

The people who say its anything else usually have mediocre clocks and mid range hardware.

No, it has exactly the same as the GT, all it is an 8800 GT with 16x more streams, thats it. :)

This new GTS is probably not much quicker than the GTX/Ultra, so those owners are still gona have the top cards as well, not bad going that, still on top for over a year.

If you go and read the review, you can see its slower than the GTX/Ultra and only just ahead of the GT. :)

Im a bit shocked basically.

Nvidia have already stated nothing in 2007 will replace the GTX/Ultra speed wise.
