**NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 680 NOW IN STOCK & AVAILABLE!!**

Boggles my mind how some are upgrading from a 7970 lol.

Not everyone on these forums is a skint student.
Some of them even bought the 79xx cards as stop gap until the green response.
A fool and his money as the old saying goes.

Ludicrous I agree, but the mentality of some enthusiasts goes beyond rational thought.

Blimey man are you aware that you appear to be going from Kepler thread to Kepler thread desperately trying to justify your purchase of a 7970? Or trying to defend AMD in a really creepy.

I think we now get it that you believe the 680 isn't so hot.

If you had been going from thread to thread you would have noticed me saying that the 680 is a great card, then correcting myself and saying that the 680 is a fantastic card, especially if you hated AMD and had been waiting for it.

As for me trying to "justify" anything? olbocks. All I am trying to do is get to the truth. A card that overclocks itself dynamically OUT OF THE BOX is not honest to me.

So maybe it's just that I am higher in intelligence than some and don't believe everything I see without hard facts.

I want to see the 7970 overclocked and then put up against the 680 before I nod along and go BAAAAAAAH and run around saying it's faster.

If you truly believe every word you read then I pity you. Even Wikipedia has its fair share of crap.

Hmm. Appears shortage fears were well founded.

Newegg have none left in stock, we didn't see a pyramid and OCUK have sold out of EVGA cards.

TheRealDeal.

Yes it may be faster at "stock" but it's not stock is it? not when it deliberately overclocks itself to skew results.

Since when has stock been when a product can overclock itself. I ask you.

Or is could be as Gibbo has stated, it is one of the best launches they have had for how quick they are selling.

But at the end of the day it isn't faster. Not when you overclock them both.

THAT is what people seem to be unable to accept.
However, an overclock is not guaranteed - base performance is. It's not like all 7970s can comfortably do 1200 or that all 680's are crippled and can only manage 1100. Don't forget that if they both overclock by the same amount - we haven't seen enough information to know whether this is the case - then the 680 would still come out ahead. Nobody is suggesting that the 680 trashes the 7970 but both pricing and performance are in its favour. It seems to be you that doesn't accept that at stock speeds the 680 performs better and that there is no indication that it can't overclock to the same level. Time will tell.

I went with AMD for the previous generation. I've looked at the reviews, price and performance and have opted for nVidia this generation. This isn't about loyalty to any particularly manufacturer.

Yep the nvidia fans that have been pushing overclocking for years now dont see it as important as it does not back up there gtx680. All thats really different here is the gtx680 automatically overclocks where as the 7970 leaves that to the user. I know to get more turbo boost you have to set it but lets be honest a feature of the 7970 cards is its overclockabilty.

I have yet to see a single case of some one not being able to reach 1125mhz at a "stock" voltage of 1100 or 1174mv.

I think your aggression in your post shows that you probably have some issues here in your "desire for the truth". It sounds a bit OTT tbh and you sound a bit zealoty.

Trying to look at it logically, I have read all of the reviews and seen that if I were to buy a 7970 and 680 today, the 680 would be quicker in most games out of the box. I don't really need to seek any "truth" to see this.

Yeah when over-clocked maybe there is equilibrium and that's ok, what does it matter really? Ultimately though I don't have to do anything to the 680 for it to be faster.

I thought the Nvidia card underclocked when it could and ramped the clocks up when needed. You know to save power.

I'm pretty sure that Vortez will take care of it :)

They have with the 580 vs 7970 debate.

Its also not a given that the nvidia card to card will give you the same turbo boost from what i have read.

I doubt it would underclock in a game say like bf3 as it would constantly need the power. This power saving to me is blown out of proportion as we are seeing the gtx680 which is pretty much a full on gaming card vs a 7970 which is gaming plus compute.

Aggression in my post?

I don't think so mate.

I think you are just taking what I am saying out of context or your brain is merely reading it "in a voice" that it finds aggressive.

If you are happy that your card overclocks itself so you don't have to? that's excellent ! I'm glad that you are happy. However, this is the world of PC components, where anything automatic like that is usually considered stupid. You know? only brainwashed Apple fans like things that take care of it all for them.

Sadly it is true that most don't have a clue what they are doing. And, as I have also said elsewhere this is fantastic for your noob as it stops him blowing up his card However, to some one with a reasonable level of understanding it's rather insulting.

They don't want a playskool 18 month to three year old GPU.

So, time will tell.

Order Status: COMPLETE

But no shipping email yet.

*fingers crossed*

Edit:

Your order has been shipped

Yay \o/

That Order Hold scared the crap out of me.

Mate I am pleased you got the EVGA. I was reading your concerns and hoping you also got one.

My EVGA has been shipped woooooot :D Roll on tomorrow and let the fun begin.

So someone buying something that overclocks itself to the same level as something that you have to overclock yourself is a noob and a brainwashed Apple fan? Do you realise how stupid you sound?

If it was possible to manually overclock part A a fair performance amount beyond part B and it was the direct result of having manual control then you may have a point.

As it is, you can do the work yourself and gain nothing extra, or not.
