NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 Gaming Performance Previewed – AMD Calls It “Unappealing”, On Par With A Rade

Yer, I agree with some of the posters and have to say for the price, I was expecting a bit more of a boost in performance. Very dull release and unsurprising they were not singing it from the rooftops.

Welcome to the new midrange, exactly the same as the old midrange but with a higher profit margin. As tedious and overpriced a release as I expected. Roll on the new high end to pull the midrange up behind it and stop the release of products as cynical as this one.

Step right up, step right up! Who will be first in line with £190 to buy a slice of this wonderful new tonic for all that ails the graphics card market today? Not.

Well that what we get for being stuck on 28nm for another year I suppose, unless your AMD then their new cards will be 100% faster. :D;):D

Bit underwhelming tbh and price is pretty varied according to manufacturer. But i gotta admit the low power use of the 900 series is pretty impressive.

Yer, a 150W TDP and some of them are tiny, which makes it perfect for a Media PC and some light gaming. If they go under £150, I could be swayed for one for a lan/TV system.

No people want to see a genuine performance improvement for the same outlay.

The 960 is barely quicker than a 760 yet costs basically the same (+/- depending on model).

According to Techpowerups reviews, the GTX960 Strix is almost 20% faster than the reference 760 on average at 1080p, uses less power, puts out less heat and has 0db fan mode.

People complaining about that kind of improvement when the average new CPU is <5% faster than it's predecessor and the average new SSD is indistinguishable from it's predecessor need to look around.

i held on to a little hope this card would shake things up for the budget ppl
i was like hello hope im giving u a chance u little douchebag

proven stupid again!!

If the pound was stronger, the price would be more appealing.

This! Yea at the moment the pound isn't very good to the dollar so i reckon this might be why prices don't seem great! If the pounds was as strong as it used to be prices might of been very different! Guess in coming days we can hope for good price drops among the cards!

So an overclocked 960 is "almost" 20% faster than a reference 760... right.

The power savings and heat (which will be cooler dependant anyway) are good but the real world difference will be negligible.

Don't get me wrong the actual underlying GPU is good (power savings etc) and it is a great fit for the laptop market. The 960 @ £180 (£189 for the Strix model in question on here) though.... no.

Also I think we are all miffed that CPU's have barely moved forward in terms of price / performance so I am not really sure what that needs to be brought in as a comparison.

Yet when the pound is strong we rarely see the benefits other than on EOL cards.

Techpowerup's results are not worth ****, he's all over the place with his reviews.

Same card on Hexus is nowhere near 20% faster.

This is the 100th time nonsense like this has been posted in this thread (I can't be arsed to see if it was you saying it all the way through, but if it was, give it a rest, OK?)

Just admit like the rest of the people in this thread that this release is disappointing, given what we now know the pricing to be.

I don't think it was me.

I was actually massively underwhelmed with it on the original 960 thread, but it's turned out not quite as bad as I expected.

I just think some people's expectations are a little unrealistic.
