NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 Gaming Performance Previewed – AMD Calls It “Unappealing”, On Par With A Rade

Its quids in for Nvidia.

970's were about £215 to £230 on release. Now they are £260 to £300. 960's will be about £200 to £230. People who didnt buy the 970's months ago have lost out. Without taking into consideration the free games you use to get.

970's were never that price, lowest they hit was £239.99 inc. vat, they are now starting from around £260 inc. vat, simply down to exchange rates changing.

960 also not be that price, your miles out, way under £200 ! :)

Nice to hear that the 960 pricing will be good.

I think these cards will punch above their weight and do very well on the bench threads.:)

lol like you will be buying one
or buying one of anything haha

seems to me its more likely to be a 760 coil whine edition :o
some midrange progress would be nice for those buying on a budget!

I actually find mid range cards more interesting than the top level ones.

If I used cards only for gaming I would have no problem using a single 960.:)

thats all great and everything and maybe we shouldnt condemn this card before it comes out but am i right in saying you could buy a better card for the same money 4 years ago??
is that harsh/wrong?
it feels like it anyway

There will be some improvement in performance, but I think the big gains on cards from 4 years ago are in power consumption, noise and heat. People turn their nose up at these arguments, but the less time, money and effort a mid level gamer has to put into setting up and building a PC then the happier they are.

A fast mid level card is all well and good but if you have to buy a dozen fans and run them at 60-90% speed to keep the thing cool then it's not much fun, it seems as though mid level cards are becoming very much fit and forget, with the enthusiast approach being reserved for purely enthusiast level cards.

In fairness, you are pretty much spot on. I remember paying £220 for a Gigabyte 560Ti, as that was all I could afford at the time and that couldn't cope with games fully maxed out (or modern AAA titles at 1080P) and I accepted that and accepted that I wasn't prepared to pay the extra for a 580 at the time.

I am not sure what people expect from a midrange card in honesty and seems some want a Ferrari but only prepared to pay for a Mondeo.

On other sites, not on here ;) As I nearly bought one but I told myself I didnt need it but I could have done with it now:(

That's more like it.

£150 would be a fair price probably.

Has anyone noticed that the rumoured Maxwell Titan specs are exactly 3x the 960 specs in bus, cores, ROPs etc.

I will be very interested in the 960 and how it goes on the benches.

Imagine the performance of the equivalent of 12 of these 960s in a PC.;)

Bring on the 960 reviews please.:)

in 2015, 1080p with some AA i dont think is unreasonable
people talk about cpu's standing still but feels like pc gaming is going backwards, and bad midrange cards doesnt help that, as its what the majority can afford!?

lol so thats why you are interested!

Not sure if anyone has noticed, but games are becoming more demanding as well.

So the obvious solution is to re-release the 760 at the same price 18 months later? :D

Whichever way you look at it, this release is no better than AMD's 285 release. Both are dire.
