NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 Gaming Performance Previewed – AMD Calls It “Unappealing”, On Par With A Rade

So the obvious solution is to re-release the 760 at the same price 18 months later? :D

Whichever way you look at it, this release is no better than AMD's 285 release. Both are dire.

Well, release tomorrow and we will see the true figures. I am not defending it btw (although it does look that way) but more looking at it from a midrange card and what it can do/achieve.

Not sure if anyone has noticed, but games are becoming more demanding as well.

yeh and no doubt thats part of the problem too but i look at it from the point of view of is pc gaming attractive, streaming has brought a lot more people back to pc gaming, or atleast wanting to get into it, would be nice if they had more affordable option than dropping 1k+ just to run at 1080p, which really is the minimum now!

and thats before you bought a screen and all the plug in bits :)

TBH the difficulty of newer games has little bearing as the older midrange/higher tier cards to which you are comparing and assessing progress suffer the same.

If anything you could argue that games are not demanding enough. Therefore bringing out better midrange cards means that ppl wouldn't have to spend as much as they would otherwise to get the more than good enough performance level.

Was just googling "GTX 960 perfomance", thought I'd come and find a thread, and low and behold I found one :)

From what I've seen it's not all that great, but one site listed it beating an R9 280.. I'll see what today/tomorrow brings.

Was just googled Geforce GTX 960 and found EVGA GTX 960 Superclocked in stock.

Price $200 MSRP for custom and overclocked cards and around $150 MSRP for cards at reference clock.

After exchange rate and added 20% VAT, think we will look at £119 for GTX 960 at stock clock and £159 for custom overclocked like EVGA GTX 960 Superclocked.

If it turn to be correct then I think GTX 960 is fantastic low budget card that will give AMD very hard time in Q1 2015 take marketshare from Radeon 270, 270X, 280, 280X and 285.

Isn't there an additional "UK Tax" of some sort that generally results in products being inexplicably more expensive than a straight currency conversion plus VAT would suggest? Say adding another 20 quid to both prices in this case.

£119 would be a very competitive price if it works out that way.

If the 960 matches the 280/285 then it would be a hit at £140. At £150 it'd need to really overclock well and above £150 a 280X becomes a better option. It'll be interesting to see whether the 2GB becomes a factor when games like Witcher 3 come out too.

I suspect reviews may be delayed as the tech sites are all about the Windows 10.

I just think they are under NDA until a certain time. I would say review sites have had these cards for a few weeks now.

Retailers are rumored to have had them for a while now also.

I agree. It's not like this is ultra low yield cutting edge silicon that's soft released to increase the hype while they frantically try and fab more to meet demand. The cards will be out there in all the relevant hands.

If the NDA expires based on US time, it may be later this afternoon that the reviews appear. I'm bored and hoping it's sooner so that I have something to read.
