If they are 650+ at launch how long will they take to come down in price ?

Why would they go down?

980 and 970 has gone up since launch......

My guess is as 980 is now £450-£600 that a 980Ti which will be faster and have more VRAM will be £600-£700, especially as Titan X is £900 so it needs to fit neatly in the lineup and a 980Ti around£650 would sell very fast. Especially considering Titan X is flying off shelfs at just shy of £1000 :)

Thought that they would drop in price depending on what amd do with the 300 series ? Plus things do tend to go down in price after launch unless its a fine wine/whiskey or a classic car :p:p ... Was just wondering how long that would take, do you think it will stay at the same price until NVidia bring out another gpu which could be a while im guessing ?

what price do you think the 390X will be ...........it deffo wont be 500 quid....... more like 600 quid

It hasn't always cost this much money though, has it?

And no you can't play the "inflation" card when it comes to technology.

Ofc you can, economy world wide grow , costs and wages go up and we have even have a VAT rise.

My PNY ti4600 was £386 (was a good wack cheaper than the other brands at the time with inflation that would be £570

My 8800 ultra would nearly be £650 in today money. GTX 280's where £450 even back in 2011 (or over £500 with inflation)

Inflation doesn't work the same way with tech products as it does with most other goods. You expect things to get faster and cheaper with technology as things advance. Yes they might get more expensive in the case of GPUs, but this appears to me to be driven by demand. I'd be curious to see how GPU production costs have risen over the last 10 or 15 years.

It will be interesting to see how everything unfolds as it seems like that end of the market will be saturated and that's just with Nvidia products! there will surely be price overlapping as there's only £300 gap between the dearest 980 and titan x as is is, to squeeze the 980ti and the rumoured 980 "metal" (probably a cut down 980ti) in there I can see the 980 price dropping slightly, titan x going up to allow the other two to slot in between, then there's AMD's new cards as well floating between them and if one of them is a dual gpu it's going to be very exciting!

I think the 970 and 980 will drop in price a little, and the 980ti (can't see a 'metal' version coming out myself) will drop in at £599 upwards.

If it's any more than that then I'm oot, too much to spend on a GPU for me. I'd still be umming and erring at that price, just don't do that much gaming anymore. Although though the gains I'll see are huge if it performs anywhere near the Titan X... :D:p

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti confirmed to feature 6GB memory

Today are going to talk about GeForce GTX 980 Ti.

While everyone is waiting for Radeon 300 series, NVIDIA is busy developing yet another flagship card that will target yet unreleased Fiji-based Radeon graphics cards.

Some of you might have noticed that we didn’t cover recent GTX 980 Ti rumors. It was for two reasons: nothing was confirmed (not even the name of the card) and secondly almost everything that was posted was based on speculation. This post however, is based solely on our new information provided by credible source (thanks Jen-Hsun!).

GeForce GTX 980 Ti with GM200-310 GPU

First of all, we can confirm that the next installment in GeForce 900 series is codenamed GTX 980 Ti. NVIDIA took the same path as with TITAN BLACK and GTX 780 Ti. GTX TITAN X will continue to offer maximum memory capacity (12GB), while GeForce GTX 980 Ti just a half of this enormous frame buffer (6GB).

It's got me questioning whether nVidia know the 3 series will beat their lineup in terms of performance so they're releasing all their cards now to try and grab even more market share before the 3 series lands.
