I would choice the 980ti over 970 sli any day

My experiance having 970 in sli was the opposite, constant slowdown once ram usage was upped.

Can't wait for the 980ti though!

970 SLI won't be a threat to this card. In fact, 970s shouldn't even be run in SLI.

Speaking from experiance i would also agree. Looking forward to feedback with regards to this card from buyers however I will not be trusting various review sites after the 970 fiasco and certainly will not be buying on day one again.

As a GTX 960 owner I would disagree with you.

The amount of memory the 970 comes with (however you describe it) is plenty for 2 way SLI.

The biggest problem about using GTX 960 in SLI is not the 2gb of memory but the poor minimums compared to a GTX 980.

Less than I'd like ;)

I'd say no more than £400...

Asus Radeon R9 290X ROG Matrix 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (MATRIX-R9290X-4GD5)

£245.99

Asus Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (R9290X-DC2-4GD5)

£227.99

Shame you missed out on the 780 Ti deal for £250 because that is only 5-10% slower than a 980 and it even beats it in some games.

The two 290x's above are great cards for the money and are again about as fast as a 780 ti / 980 again depending on games and in some games again beats the Nvidia cards.

The 980ti is not going for anything less than £650 when it comes out, don't waste your time thinking about that one and same with the 390x that will be £500-600 if it competes with the 980 ti and the Titan X.

Save your money and grab a 290x or even two for crossfire while they are on offer and in stock. Not worth paying double for 10% gain at most on a good day. You will have a hell of a system for £456 for two 290X DirectCU II, or £492 for a pair of R9 290X ROG Matrix . 2560x1600 resolution will be fantastic for a pair of them cards.

Lets face it like was said once the 980TI hits there will be plenty of choice in MM if a) you have access and b) you are quick.

Wait for the 980ti and the 980 should (may) drop down to under £400? or pick up a used one on the MM.

I was also hoping for price drops from 980ti/390x release, but apparently there won't be price drops :(

Source: Gibbo ;) (Check the Nvidia bundle games offer thread)

If true, and the 980's don't drop at all, then that supports the predicted price of about £650 for the 980Ti I would say. I think it still may all hinge on what price the 390x comes in at though. If this thing's as good as the rumours then all hell could break loose.

Exactly what I was about to post.

970 prices are from £250-300, 980's are £450-500, so a 980TI would slot in at £650-£700 with the Titan X sitting at £900-950.

If that's the case, I think the 980ti will be a identical to a Titan X, minus 6GB of vram.

Hopefully the 390x comes in at 780ti performance levels and at £500, which will force nvidia to look at their pricing.

Your obviously welcome to disagree but i have owned the cards in sli , so im talking from experiance .. have you actually tried these cards yourself in sli or are you just going of benchs or your experiance with your 960 ? Honestly if they were any good i would have kept them as in theory / practice i should have had way more performance then my current 980 but in real world usage that was never the case.

The amount of memory is the biggest issue with the card , obviously if your running sli your pushing higher resolutions turning up settings only to find your gimped by how the memory is accessed.

If 980s are still selling by the truckload, theres no need for Nvidia to drop their prices, the 980 Ti will also sell by the truckload, whatever its priced at.

I have a few cards which I use in SLI yes.

The point I am making is the 960 only has 2gb of VRAM to start with where as the 970 has 4gb (or 3.5gb + 0.5gb before someone says it) which gives them a good head start over the 960s in SLI.

Most people with 970s are very happy with the performance as they don't spend all day trying to push the cards to the limit looking for faults rather than using them for gaming.

I am also looking to buy a reference 970 sometime in the future as I think they are great cards.

I didn't bench my cards and used them for games and still ran into problems when gaming at 1440 also just to add I didn't look for faults I found them while playing and also mentioned these problems on these forums before the whole memory thing was even mentioned on here.

A single 980 at that resolution was much better for me and a lot smoother when gaming.
