**Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti Review Thread**

Gaming 6G is pretty much as expected, a quieter G1.

I was expecting it to be a bit quieter too while being a few degrees warmer, which I can live with. That said you could always use a manual profile on the G1 to have very low noise for a few extra degrees.

I should be happy with the MSI Gaming but I won't be surprised if the Strix becomes the best all rounder next month. Will be more expensive than £576 I would imagine though.

Foreign MSI 980Ti Gaming 6G review:

Notice they don't show us the actual in game boost their "low" Overclock achieved. That advertised boost of 1369 in GPU-Z is almost 300MHz over reference. Looks like you can push a 20% power limit unlike the reference 10% power limit in afterburner.

To be fair their OC was only 90MHz above the cards factory clock which isn't super ambitious.

IIRC the ASUS Strix 980ti prototype shown at Computex was clocked at 1240MHz on the core? so will probably boost to 13xxMHz out of the box.

Yup, it's still 293MHz over the reference 980Ti's advertised boost clock. It's just when you think about how aggressive the factory OC is already, it's not surprising to see less headroom. At 1369 advertised boost it could be getting very close to 1500MHz actual boost under load. That is far from a low OC for a GM200 chip, as that's usually the max most people can get to on air.

That sucks....but also kind worried you're checking emails whilst driving.

Hah I wasn't actually driving at the time, was sat stationary in a queue of traffic and heard the email ping so had a quick look at the notification on the screen which shows me the email subject. I never touch my phone when actually driving!

Sorry officer, I didn't mean to crash but I was trying to order a new graphics card! :p

Watched the review for the msi, very impressive. But I am a bit worried about how tall the card is now. I use a very large alpenfohn k2 cooler that gets quite close to the top pcie slot. Hoping the backplate doesn't clash with the coolers fan clips.

Maybe you have a good excuse to get a AIO unit :D

Id never use one tbh. Don't trust them. At least with an air cooler there's nothing to go wrong. Could be an excuse though to drop down to a smaller red prolimatech megahelims. Would suit my build nicely and its a good cooler as I had one on my old x58 setup prior to getting the k2.:)

Yup the "premium" card tax is to the extreme. More than 50% the $680 US price considering most US retailers only add about $30 for non reference cards.

Any chance we will see these at sub £500 anytime soon? I cant bring my self to spend that kind of money on a card. Happy with my 970 for the time being but wouldn't mind an upgrade in 3-4 months time.
