**Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti Review Thread**

Just been scanning the reviews before work this morning. Performance is great... where I'd expected it to be, and the price means I might just be able to sneak a pair of these in, especially if they drop a little after the AMD launch!

GTX 1080... overkill for 1080p? They should call it the GTX 1440 lol

Also 980 prices are still the same, perhaps they'll drop at 2pm?

I feel very sorry for Asus here... the obsolescence of that card... unless it drops in price by £200. I wonder if the cost comes from the gold on the fan shroud and backplate? Now I'm pondering what equivalent 980ti would cost? Not too much or people would rather buy a TX... perhaps?

amazing card...look forward to the EVGA Classified or AIO

fantastic card, really blowing out the price and the performance

I have to say I'm impressed by nVidia's technology as much as business tactics...they've clearly gone all out to steal as many customers and dollars as they possibly can before the AMD Fury/HBM card comes out...

I mean think about this performance at this price...something has nVidea very nervous.

This is what competition is supposed to do, better tech at better prices...don't for a minute think that nVidia are doing this because they're good for gamers, it's about competition.

If AMD have been working on HBM for 7 years, all the proprietary lock in stuff that nVidia has been releasing...gameworks, gsync, shield tablet/console is a way to get consumers locked into their eco-system.

Not that I care too much, enjoy my nVidia set up and will more than likely get a 980ti...after I see what the AMD Fury card brings that has nVidia so worried...

Man I love this stuff...can't wait to give OCUK more money ;)

PS: Gibbo - Any news on a new Shield tablet with the tegra x1?

Do you think i will be ok running a GTX980 Ti with my current SuperFlower Golden Green HX 650W ?

My spec is 4690K @4.5ghz, 16gb Ram, 2 x SSD's, 1 x HDD and a few bits connected via USB.

I really dont want to have to buy another psu to accomodate this.

That's a great PSU and you won't have any issues running a 980ti. Guaranteed.

TBH, this has really made me curious to see what AMD's upcoming card will be like, there is no way nvidia would release a card, which performs as good as a TX at this price and pretty much kill the TX of this early without a good reason...

@Gibbo

Will the 980's price be dropping as soon as you list the ti's?

Lets be honest here Jedi, even if the 290x was 30-40% faster the nvidia folks would have made the same tiring jokes over and over again, that it needs a nuclear plant, that it is as hot as the sun. The argument for the "980ti being hot equals okay" is the performance increase in games but that argument can be flipped around as we all know that the 290/290x has more performance to offer than even a 980ti outside of gaming in certain applications. The entire chip has to be powered hence the power draw.

Now there is no doubt Maxwell is efficient but to get there a lot of functionality had to be dropped which made sense i mean what gamer uses double precision anyway but to go into "ignorance is bliss" mode when the same argument nVidia fans used 2½ years ago is used against them could well be filed under "double standards" really..

Now to be clear and so there are no hurt feeling, im not trying to be rude or to offend anyone simply just stating my personal opinion which is: if your ready to deal a kicking you should also be ready to recieve a kicking without rolling over all hurt in the behind(again speaking to everyone here).

Now i think i need to get outside and get some sun!.. lovely weather today and no new cards to order anyway..

THIS!

Wasn't there a thread on here a while ago about power consumption (around the time of the 980/970 release iirc) and how important it was? Tempted to go find the thread and read some of the posts :D

Kinda disgusting that they can release a card with almost equal performance to the titan x for like £450 less. People can say they have enjoyed 2 months of great performance but I doubt most of them can honestly tell themselves that their £1000 card has given its moneys worth.

Anyone who is willing to buy a Titanx must know more then enough about Computers and mainly the graphics card scene everyone was well aware of the 980ti coming out so most people waited to get a comparison between 980ti and titan x

People who didn't wait have nobody but themselfs to blame
